Met by the vivacious Gladys, Jen and I had most amazing cookery experience with Mechita - so welcoming, so friendly, 5* cook! Learnt so much from Gladys after a tour of the local markets that we felt we knew Peru - so much background knowledge and the cooking in Mechita's home is definitely worth the busy bus ride out - an experience in itself! Thanks you so much for showing us how to make the most excellent Pisco Sour (already done back in UK - came out just right) and Mechita's cooking through Gladys interpreting (although she did not need to by the end), was impeccable - she was patient with us and we just made the most divine Peruvian Food. Excellently executed and we felt privileged being in your lovely home Mechita - thank you so much a most memorable experience... and one we can cook at home, not just for show as so many of these cookery course are!For a true Peruvian experience I couldn’t recommend a better tour. For a true Peruvian experience I couldn’t recommend a better tour. We were met on time by the lovely Paula and Rodolpho and taken to the local market where we had great fun learning about the different products Then we went by local bus to their family home where we were taught by Paula’s delightful mother to cook traditional Peruvian dishes. We had a brilliant night rounded off with Rudolph’s pisco soursThis cooking lesson far exceeded my hopes and expectations. Not only did I learn specific dishes I was taught a larger understanding of Peruvian cuisine with history lessons and insightful knowledge. Cannot recommend this lesson enough.

Mechita and Paula were wonderful hosts. From the moment Paula met us we knew we were with someone very special. Our tour through the market was great. Paula knew so much about the traditional Peruvian foods that it made it very interesting and educational. We road the express lane bus to her district. It was fascinating to see the people of Lima up close. Once we arrived in Mechita and Paula's home we felt like family. We enjoyed cooking with them so much. The food was delicious and beautiful. We really didn't want to leave their home. Thank you so much, Mechita and Paula!I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class with Paula and her mom. I did the Lima home cooked tour, with Paula and her mum Mechita, and I LOVED IT! Paula took us to a local market and taught us about a lot of ingredients, then we had amazing ice-cream, and then we went to her mum's house. The cooking class was so interesting, with lot of traditional old family recipes that you'd never get from a cooking book, and her stories were fascinating. The ceviche we made was delicious, the causa was a close second though, and it was topped off with a few pisco sours. The tour was fantastic because we actually got away from the more touristy Miraflores and Barranco districts, and experienced real Peruvian life, which is difficult to do when you're a tourist.
