Private Dharavi Slum and Sightseeing Tour
Overview
Through our educational walking tours, visitors experience a wide range of these business activities: recycling, pottery-making, embroidery, bakery, soap factory, leather tanning, poppadom-making and many more.
We’ll also visit the residential areas of Dharavi. People from all over India have come to live in Dharavi, making it a microcosm of India. Our 2 hour+ introduction to Dharavi aims to give visitors a much more nuanced understanding of life and work in Mumbai slums.

Wow, what a day! Absolutely incredible. Thanks to reality tours and raj, our guide, we had an incredible day touring mumbia and finishing with a very eye opening tour of the dvhalivi slum. Honestly incredible, a perfect day with lots of fun, some great momunents and attractions included, where we learnt lots too. I couldn't recommend reality tours enough, amazing service and experience. They really helped tailor it to our needs too. The fact that most of their profits go back into the community and charities made the whole experience very rewarding too. We will Most definitely use reality tours again and recommend to all our friends and family. Thanks so much, we loved it.We spent 3 days is Mumbai during our cruise vacation and formerly booked at Reality Tours the Sightseeing by Local Transport (first day) and one of the bicyle tour (second day). We spent 3 days is Mumbai during our cruise vacation and formerly booked at Reality Tours the Sightseeing by Local Transport (first day) and one of the bicyle tour (second day). The selection of the Reality Tours based on the excellent ratings on the Tripadvisor, and we didn't disappointed! :-) The first day Janna was our guide and we made an 8.5 hours long walk/travel in the city. We travelled by train, by bus, by taxi and uber. On the second day Simran was our guide. The bike tour started early morning at 6 am. avoiding the heavy traffic and the extreme hight temperature. Both tours were so satisfying, that on the third day we participated the Dharavi slum tour. In this case Vishal was our guide. All three tours were wery intresting, well organised and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks folks, Janna, Simran and Vishal! The tour was easy to arrange, our guide Hitesh was helpful, considerate and had an amazing command of English. The driver was experienced and we felt very safe. The tour was easy to arrange, our guide Hitesh was helpful, considerate and had an amazing command of English. The driver was experienced and we felt very safe. As it was our first day in Mumbai, we had little experience of the area, so it was very convenient that collection was from our hotel. The tour was an enlightening experience, we saw how people live, work and socialise in Dharavi and how they work and support each other in a very overcrowded community. The sightseeing part of the tour was thorough and our guide was very educated about the sights we visited. it would be advisable to wear closed shoes for this tour and comfortable respectful clothes. We decided early in the morning to do a slum tour. We decided early in the morning to do a slum tour. We found Reality tours. They were very polite and with quick feedback. Our guide was Miss Simran. She was the best. Very friendly, polite, taking care of us and concerned if we understand her English. Her English was fluently, understandable and gave us a lot of information. Through slum she was not in a hurry so we had a lot of time to see the things, too give her all questions we had in mind. I am not a guided tour lover, but this was for sure needed tour cause otherwise we would not understand what we see in slum and all the facts about the slum. She it's the guide who also lived 11 years in slum, so for sure knows what to tell and what to show us. She made our day with her kindness, with her knowledge and with her English. We wish her all the best and to continue to live her dreams. Simran, maybe we meet one day in Bali ;) Take care, no photo allowed in slum to show respect to the residents.I booked Reality Tours for two different tours: the evening street food tour and the Dharavi tour, both of which were truly illuminating and excellent experiences. I booked Reality Tours for two different tours: the evening street food tour and the Dharavi tour, both of which were truly illuminating and excellent experiences. The Dharavi slum tour is a must-do in Mumbai, revealing the heartbeat of the city and granting tourists access they otherwise would not have had. I would recommend booking the option that includes Dhobi Ghat, a fascinating addition to the regular tour. The evening food tour included plenty of street food dishes while watching the sunset at Chowpatty, concluding in a vibrant, congested neighborhood that quickly became one of my favorites in the city. The guide was knowledgeable, the tour was respectful toward the residents of Dharavi, and the company is well-known for their charitable contributions to the Dharavi community. Highly recommended. Our guide for the day Chetan met us at the hotel at 08:30 as arranged and off we went. Our guide for the day Chetan met us at the hotel at 08:30 as arranged and off we went. There were 3 of us on the tour and the morning was spent seeing the various sights and even stopping off at a couple along the way that we came across and fancied a nosey around. Chetan was really adaptable, great fun to spend the day with and had a cracking sense of humour. He adapted the tour and made a couple of recommendations, such as jumping on a local train to Davari which we were up for. This as my second tour with Reality and my dad enjoyed it as much as I had the previous year, I wouldn't hesitate to book again with them and have already recommended them to my friends.
