Overview

This is a private tour so only your group is on the tour, We have a 4 person limit so that we can 'socially distance' and show you around town in a meaningful and enjoyable way. We encourage questions and discussion and tailor the content to your interests. Besides showing main sights we also include lovely back streets that we know because we are locals! We have a break in one of a number of really nice local cafes that welcome us because of our small group size. Big tour groups are not allowed entry into the places we go to. If you have a particular interest please let us know when you join the tour and perhaps we can include it. The start time and start pint can be changed if you wish.

Stop At: Amsterdam Canal Ring, Amsterdam The Netherlands

We walk through parts of Amsterdam's Grand Canal Belt and explain why it was built and how

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Begijnhof, Gedempte Begijnensloot, 1012 RM Amsterdam The Netherlands

One rouute is to have a break in a cafef in the old Jewish district and then head across to the Begijnhof, which where there is anohter hiidden church in a large enclosed courtyard. From there we either head into the 9 streets oart of the canal belt and end there.

Stop At: South Church (Zuiderkerk), Zuiderkerkhof 72, 1011 WB Amsterdam The Netherlands

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Nieuwmarkt, Amsterdam The Netherlands

We stop on the Nieuwmarkt Square, on Saturdays you can buy fresh stroopwafels from the market there. We speak about the old city gate and its past uses from weighing house to autopsy venue.

Stop At: Bushuis - Oost-Indisch Huis, Kloveniersburgwal 48, 1012 CX Amsterdam, Netherlands

On weekdays we go into the courtyard of the old Dutch East Indies HQ and tell the storry about how the Dutch dominated the spice trade and the birth of modern capitalism! On weekends we tell the story from outside.

From this point we branch in different directions depending on the weather, the day of the week, the speed of the group. but we have a break at a really nice cafe. The 2 routes are described in the 2 stops below.

Stop At: Royal Palace Amsterdam, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 147, 1012 RJ Amsterdam The Netherlands

Another route is to go through to Dam Square and talk about the royal family and other landmarks on the square and then head into the canal belt area, direction Anne Frank House. Sometimes on this route, we can do a little exploration of the Jordaan area and see a hidden courtyard there.

  • At the moment (April 2021) it is not legal to walk in the street with more than 1 other person, so 2 together max, including me. As such I cannot offer these tours at the moment. I will add dates as soon as allowed by law.
