I chose this tour for several reasons. Firstly it included Herculaneum as well as Pompeii. Secondly it included transport from the meeting point (which was conveniently near my hotel) to Pompeii, then to Herculaneum and back to where we met. It was also a 9.20am start and as I only arrived in Naples late the night before this was a godsend. The driver (Giovanni) was excellent despite his limited English. He was a very safe and reliable driver as well as being friendly and helpful. Our guide (Lucca) was super. He gave very good introductions to each place about what happened at that fateful time in AD79. He showed us the highlights of each site and made it entertaining and interesting, he clearly has a passion for the subject. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to visit both these sites and wants it to be as easy and convenient as you can get. We just returned from Italy, and Askos is the #1 review I will be writing! I arranged a private day through them for my family (my parents, myself and my two boys ages 5 and 9), after the first tour company I booked with told me I couldn't customize anything. With Askos, they let me customize exactly what I wanted - private transport from Naples train station, 2 hours in Herculaneum, wine tasting lunch at a nearby winery, 3 hours in Pompeii, and ride back to the train station. I had to sort my own train tickets from Rome, but they helped with the timings and operators (I used Italo high-speed trains, which cut travel time more than in half). All communications were answered so promptly, so professionally - I got email and WhatsApp notes, I felt 100% taken care of. Office staff gets an A+ for sure! Day of, Francesco was our driver - he parked and met us inside the Naples train station, which I really appreciated. The van was clean and cool, and stocked with waters and hard candies, which my boys promptly hoarded. Francesco was dressed in a jacket and tie, and so kind and professional - we really felt like VIPs. He took care to point out landmarks and the islands on our drive from Naples. Another A+ experience! Our archaeologist tour guide was Jasmine, and she MADE the whole trip!! She is clearly super smart and a natural teacher and storyteller, but she also exuded curiosity and phrased things in a way that felt like we were discovering together - not easy, considering she's probably led these tours dozens/hundreds of times! She was so kind and inclusive to my boys, and also answered our questions in depth, not just cursory explanations. She really knows her stuff and is just so personable. I wish we could have had Jasmine guide us around everything else we saw in Italy (actually, not a bad idea for our next trip...!). Jasmine took us to both Herculaneum and Pompeii, which was great, so we could experience the highlights of both without duplicating information. We could not have asked for a better day with her, 100% A++!! Lunch was as good as it can get - a charcuterie course and pasta lunch on a shaded patio surrounded by grapevines at Bosco de Medici winery. It was a little salesy, but I think this is how nearly all winery visits go. The wine was good, and it was fun to try local. They were great with the kids and offered them pasta and chicken tenders, which I really appreciated! And to think I nearly paid a several hundred more euro for a non-customizable day with a long drive from Rome! This was such a smooth, fun, and educational day. I was dreading the long day of travel and the uncertainty of all the connections, but there was nothing to worry about at all - the Askos team, Francesco and Jasmine made us feel totally taken care of the whole time. THANK YOU!Had a wonderful day with Alfredo De Luca, our tour guide on a Pompeii and Herculaneum tour. Alfredo was extremely informative. Very much enjoyed! Thank you, too to Giovanni Smaldonz (hope spelt right, Giovanni!) our driver. Well done both of you!!!!!!

We were picked up by Fulvio. He was a fantastic driver, lots of fun, played famous Italian music that he knew we would recognize and he energetically sang along with each one. Fulvio dropped us off at Pompeii where we met our guide John Carlos. John is a trained archeologist who had incredible knowledge about Pompeii. John led us at a pace that allowed us to spend extra time where we had more interest and he took the time to explain how the Pompeians lived back 2,000 years ago. He explained the history of Pompeii, how the city was laid out and why, who lived there, etc. A very informative tour. We then headed to Herculaneum. Herculaneum is smaller and had significantly less tourists than Pompeii. John’s knowledge again was very deep and he did a great job of passing the right level of knowledge through to us. Overall a fantastic day.Tour was excellent! Sergio Pisco was extremely knowledgeable, he had great energy and was very passionate! Driver was just as great as well! He also too us to a really nice restaurant for lunch!

Alfredo was amazing and answered all of our questions patiently even when people asked a question he'd already answered. There were lots of tourists there but we didn't feel we were pressurised or bothered. We had a slight worrying start as we'd booked with Viator and couldn't find them and hadn't really been told we were on an Askos tour.
