Paris: Secret Rooms of Versailles Skip-The-Line Tour

Travel back in time and enter the opulent palace of French royalty in the halls of Versailles. This half-day your includes an exclusive look inside secret rooms not normally open to the general public. A guide will meet you in Paris to escort you on the swift train ride to Versailles. Upon arrival, an expert local guide will fast track you past the long lines in a privileged group of no more than 20 people.

Head for the king’s private apartments, and discover where Louis XV and XVI and their queens (and mistresses) would escape from the prying eyes of the Court of Versailles. In the days of the French Court, these private apartments could only be entered by permission of the king, and courtiers would do almost anything for an invite!

Get insights into the lives of the French monarchy, learning how the King would go to bed in public, before retiring to his private apartments to sleep, making sure to return to the public bedroom before sunrise! With restricted access, the apartments are as lavishly furnished as they were in the days of the Court. Admire family portraits, personal furniture, and art collections.

The itinerary is adapted depending on which areas can be opened, but includes either the Opera House or Royal Chapel. Reappear through a hidden door into the public apartments, just as the kings and queens would have. Marvel at the main apartments, including the spectacular Hall of Mirrors. Then, stroll in the magnificent gardens to see the fountains, statues, and more.

A return train ticket is included for you to return to Paris at your leisure.

Poor timings
We were taken to Versailles by coach however when we arrived our guide was not there. We spent 15 minutes waiting for the guides and sorting out headsets before beginning our tour. We then went into the Palace and waited again as the guide suggested people to use the bathrooms even though we had not begun the tour. The tour around the private apartments was interesting although we felt that the guided repeated herself a little. When we went into the main part of the palace it was extremely difficult to follow the guide as she did not hold her stick in the air. It was emensly busy and we were not given time to see very much at all as the guide wanted us to catch the last few minutes of the fountain show. Once out in the gardens we had 10 minutes to see the last of the fountain show and then only another 30 minutes to enjoy the gardens as they closed at 5.30pm. We were asked to be back on the coach at 5.50 so we were then left with not very much time to do anything else.
It was wonderful I loved our guide and the experience. Specially because, since the train lines weren't working, the company rented a bus to drive us there, so it was very nice.
Amazing tour by Anais!
Being that it was my last full day here, I was not sure if I was going to do the tour (bought ticket in advance) because there were other tours I wanted to go, but the times interfered with this tour. I am glad I decided to go to this one, the tour was quite amazing! Anais was my guide (group of 5) and she gave us an in depth history of the Palace of Versailles, the gardens, and the secret rooms that only 5 percent of those that go to Versailles are allowed to see. She brought about a warmth, passion, a certain je ne sais quoi that charms her group making them feel as if they are a part of the nobility during the period (yes I used je ne sais quoi in a sentence!) I highly recommend taking this tour with Anais. In fact, the entire City Wonders group was very professional and a joy to be with for all the tours I was able to go to when I was in Paris.
I would recommend it for sure. Guide Joshua was outstanding
