What to expect
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Los Romanes, Los Romanes, Vinuela, Province of Malaga, Andalucia
Do you like olive oil and want to know more about it? This is a nice trip to do it and at the same time discover beautiful landscapes that contrast a lot with the ones on the coast. Spain is the biggest oil producer worldwide and Andalusia is the region known to have the biggest number of olive trees, so if you like olive oil and want to know a bit more about it, you came to the right place.
Our tour will start by visiting a centenarian olive plantation, where we will teach you about how to harvest the olives and the traditional tools used in this procedure, a unique experience!
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Casabermeja, Casabermeja, Province of Malaga, Andalucia
We will drive you to an Andalusian country house which has its own oil mill, where you will learn about the process of oil production. This house also has an old stone olive mill from XVIII century and you will learn how olive oil was made in the past. Lastly you will enjoy an olive oil tasting to whet everyone ’s appetite before lunch.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Alfarnate, Alfarnate, Province of Malaga, Andalucia
We will go deeper into Montes de Málaga (Malaga Mountains) and we will have lunch in the oldest inn in Andalusia and enjoy a typical plato de los montes (a typical dish of this area). This place is called el Museo del Bandolero (a bandit museum) and it is a special place with lots of history.
After lunch we will visit the villages of Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo, located in what is called los Pirineos de la Axarquía (the Pyrinees of the Axarquia). Both are beautiful villages in the middle of the mountains and surrounded by olive trees. This landscape is completely opposite of those we are used to in the coast.

Fantastic day with Cipriano and Maria! Delicious tasting, stunning views and a lot of interesting discussions about history, agriculture and the region. A perfect mix to not just become aquatinted with a region, but to fall in love with it. Massively grateful for Cipriano’s ability to manage the tour in English and German, to suit our needs and also be conscious of bringing gluten free picos so I could enjoy the tasting. Full recommendation! Also a pick up and drop off service which makes it totally easy!Cipriano has all one needs to make a day to remember. Cipriano has all one needs to make a day to remember. He speaks English and has a wealth of personal knowledge of the area. He took us to the beautiful countryside in his Mercedes van and actually gave the small group hands on experience gathering olives. From there we got to see the olive oil production including sampling. We shared a wonderful Spanish lunch as part of the tour. This trip was the second, but not the last, that I had the pleasure to go on together with our excellent guide and driver Cipriano. His amazing knowledge and stories has made me see and understand so much more about the area I am in. It was so sweet that we actually were invited to his parents finca, where we could try some olives and also oranges and lemons, fresh from the tree! For us, coming from the North, that is very exotic. It was a so interesting to learn how the olives were harvested, we could actually try it if we wanted. It was wonderful to then visit the olive mill and listen to Juan’s passion telling about his family and what they achieved with making organic oil and that they after only a short time won a prize for best produced oil. Way to go! After tasting some different and strong oils I bought 2 cans of the mildest oil, coming from an over 1200 year old olive tree. Thant alone is worth the trip! A tasty lunch by the open fire in the old inn - oh if only the walls could talk .... and then a safe trip back downhill, watching the magnificent scenary. From now on I will look at olives in a different way and absolutely have more respect for the oil! Thank you dear Cipri for yet another splendid day! Absolutely enjoyable day spent with Cipriano, driving (and walking) through the beautiful countryside, seeing the olive trees, harvesting them and then being able to see the process of turning the olives into oil (modern process and the process used generations ago). I'll always remember the rich taste of the oils and the passion that the locals have for their craft and heritage. If I ever find myself in Malaga again, I would definitely reach out to Cipriano again.
