Old Delhi Street Food Tour & Heritage Walk

Delhi is considered the food capital of India, serving some of the world’s most mouth-watering dishes. On this 5-hour tour you will stroll down the nostalgic gullies (lanes) of Old Delhi and discover a rich culinary heritage.

Every lane and every window has a story to tell; often a story that is several centuries old. Experience the city with all your senses and soak up the colors, sounds, sights, aromas and tastes.

Explore the arched gateways of ornate havelis (old private mansions), see boys flying colorful kites on crumbling terraces and smell the sweet aroma of freshly-made chickpea curry.

You will visit the Kari Bawli Spice Market, one of the oldest wholesale spice markets in the world. Move on to the congested Khari Baoli market, where shops on both sides sell spices, nuts and herbs. Soak up the atmosphere and watch the unloading of the huge sacks via manual trolleys.

Try your bargaining skills at the street bazaars and pop into shops selling dress materials, rolls of fabrics, glass bangles, silk saris and Bindi. See the heritage home of the Persian poet Mirza Galib in Ballimaran and pass stores that stock wedding garlands and bridal jewelry

You will pause for dinner at Karim’s Restaurant, and catch the mind-blowing aroma of its delicacies. Responsible for producing the royal cooks of the Mughal Rulers, it has been serving superb food for over 80 years.

Here you will enjoy some of the world`s best Mughlai cuisine, including chicken korma, seekh kabas and mutton burra.

You can end the tour here, or whenever you feel that you have seen enough - or spent too much money! You will be returned to your accommodation by cab.

Absolutely fascinating - a real taste of Old Delhi Street Life
As with most tours of this type, the quality of the experience is down to the Guide and the young guy I had for the tour was terrific. He had a great command of English, knew his way around the area very well and was open to doing a bit of exploring. Highly recommended.

Interesting Tour
Both the tour guide and driver did a good job. I enjoyed the tastes we sampled and enjoyed browsing the spice market. I was also impressed with the Jama Masjid Mosque. At the end of the tour when I tipped the guide he asked me wasn't I going to also tip the driver. I thought it was customary for them to split the tip. So I actually ended up tipping twice what I intended.

Super Tourguide, empfehlenswert!

A guide with passion. Food and places we always will remember.
We didn,t think you could experience that much in a day. Our guide was very observant about our interests and didn't talk all the time. Instead he watched us and noticed where we stopped. And then told us lots of interesting things. We had lots and lots of streetfood. We had no stomach problems, as he did it the safe way. We had a tour with the metro, we saw a parade at the governement buildings, we visited Ghandis house where he was killed, we visited a home of a Delhi family we had tour with motor and bicycle rickshaw and more. A perfect thay with the perfect guide

Guide was very good, unfortunately we had too much food on airplane before we arrived in Delhi that we couln't take full advantage of the food tasting which was a shame.
