Nuremberg Old Town and Nazi Rally Grounds Walking Tour

On this 4-hour tour an expert guide will take you to see Nuremberg’s Imperial Castle, where German Emperors ruled. See Gothic churches with awe-inspiring works by the most talented German artists in history, and the area where colorful markets have been held for nearly 700 years.

Take a break for lunch in the marketplace before boarding the bus for the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds. The largest Third Reich buildings left in the world still silently testify to the megalomania of a madman.

You'll see where stormtroopers paraded, and where Adolf Hitler personally inspected columns of SS men and performed pseudo-religious cult rituals before the saluting masses.

Learn how Nuremberg deals with this dark part of its past today. After the war, at the Nuremberg trials, many of these same men would finally face justice and the gallows before the eyes of the world.

The tour ends in front of the Third Reich Documentation Center Museum, which you might like to visit (entrance fee not included).

good tour with knowledgeable tour guide
Generally good experience. The tour covers both the historical ancient town of Nuremberg and relics of Nazi party big rally ground. Our guide Chris is also quite familiar with the city and quite knowledgeable as well. This tour is a good choice for those not having enough time but just wanting to have a quick view of the city. For those with deep interest in history, more time and exploration are needed for sure.

One of the very best walking tours
The tour was divided into two parts, with a short lunch in between. Jason the guide took us round the old town and was very informative in explaining the landmarks and showing us old photos of what they used to look like, especially after WWII. After lunch, Jason took us by bus to the former Nazi parade grounds and the documentation centre, which brought much of it to life. We were all brought back to the old town by tram. Jason was an excellent guide who explained everything clearly and who took time to answer our many questions.

It was nice, but moving too fast didn't allow to appreciate in full the city. We were almost running to meet the time. The guide was nonetheless prepared.

very good tour
Very good tour ,Chris our our guid from down under was very knowledgable ,and kept your attention throughout the tour . good sense of humour well worth the money. Great to see the rally grounds ,but you will have to use your imagination and have a good look at the photos he shows you as the grounds are now back to being a park ,but there are things still to bee seen. thanks

if the facts are wrong the tour cann't be interesting
We had an Australian guide. He is a smooth talker but I noticed that some of the facts he mentioned were incorrect, so I lost my interest in listening to him. Besides that he was simplifying the history too much. And he was so negative about the Nazis, they were stupid, bad architects, crazy leader etc. It is so one dimensional small talk. Besides that the group was too large, about 34 people!

amazing experience: seen the most in 4 hours from Nuremberg
The guide, Chris was very knowledgeable about the town, engaged with everyone from the group and gave us enough time to explore. Being a tour guide myself, I found it hard to locate the tour in front of the Main Train station, as it is a very busy place and the guide did not hold the sign up, but held it in front of him, so we had to look very carefully for the group. Despite the constant danger of the sky coming down on us at any minute, we did make the most out of this tour and the town, which is so rich in culture and history. Thank you!!!!

Fun walk thru Old Town and Visit Natl Soc Worker's Party Rally Ground
Our guide was late for our tour due to train problems linking Munich to Nuremberg. Our guide had to pick up guests from Munich. Overall, for the price I had to pay (like 25 USD) it was a good walk through town Nürnberg and visiting a few key sites during the Holy Roman Empire and a visit to Nürnberg Rally Grounds. Nationalist Socialist Worker's Party (aka Nazi) try to link their institution with the Holy Roman Empire. Just like what Mussolini did with the Roman Empire. It was very informative and I visited the Documentation Center near the Rally grounds on my own after the tour. The Documentation Center did a wonderful presentation of the Nazi Era. There is lot of good information in English (including an English audio guide). I arrived in the afternoon so I could not see the entire program like I would have if I had the whole day. But given what I could see I would recommend the entire center. There is an interesting section on International Press perspective of Hitler and the Nazi.

Our tour guide Scott was excellent. He was easy to understand and made the tour fun as well as informative. I really appreciated the history lesson on the rise and fall of the Nazi party and its relationship with the Nuremberg area. Would definitely take another tour with Scott.

Average tour, good guide
The big problem was that we were told online to wait at 11.15 at the MULLER DROGERIE at the HBH Nuremberg. We waited there from 10.15 until 11.30 and then went to the nearby town Information. The lady there was brilliant. She phoned the tour company and a guide came for us and helped us find the tour which had already started on time from somewhere else. I had never heard of the Muller Drogerie so it was not my imagination!! We would have missed the whole tour but for the kind information lady. The guide was very interesting, but there was no time to go into any of the churches he told us about. Visit to castle very brief too, but he was superb when we got to they Nazi parade grounds, the main reason we went. As we were staying in Nuremberg we could re visit the churches on our own the next day.
