Overview
Spend a wonderful half day with giraffes and baby elephants and exploring the historical Karen Blixen museum. The tour visits the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe Center, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust: A Haven for Elephants and Rhinos, and the Karen Blixen museum dedicated to the writer of the book "Out of Africa."
Spend approximately 1 hour at the mamba village resort or equivalent restaurant for lunch and you may also like to visit the crocodile park in the resort ( own expense which is optional).

The history of the institution dates back in 1910 when a museum was established in Nairobi by the then East Africa and Uganda Natural History Society [currently the East African Natural History Society.

Stop At: Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Mbagathi Road Kws Workshop Entrance - Nairobi National Park, Nairobi 00503 Kenya
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) Elephant Nursery in Nairobi National Park provides a safe haven to orphaned baby elephants rescued by the DSWT. The Nursery provides the first stage in the hand-rearing and development of milk dependent baby elephants. Once they graduate from the Nursery, aged 2-3 years, the elephants move to one of the DSWT's Reintegration Centres in Tsavo East National Park, from where they will ultimately return to the wild.

The Giraffe Centre is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenya), a Kenyan non-profit organisation. Our main purpose is to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country’s wildlife and environment, as well as give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species, the giraffe.

I enjoyed the Karen Blixen Museum and the Giraffe Center. But I did not go to the Elephant Orphanage and was not told that there was a limit and that I didn’t make the 100 visitor limit and after my Giraffe Center visit. Douglas the driver lied to me continually: 1) You’ll be able to get into a group on the next day; 2) he said that he would refund a portion of my money. Of course, he never did. Very spontaneously I booked this beautiful Tour. I was so lucky to get a extraordinary Guide, Douglas, who was very knowledgeable about Nairobi in general as well as all the interesting and nice places in and around the city. Since i was travelling alone, he accompanied me in every place up to the main entrance, explained to me everything and assisted me where help was needed. After every visit (Giraffecenter - Elephant Orphanage – Karen Blixen Museum) i never had to wait or look for him, he was always at the right time in the right place 😊 Douglas had the ability to give a visitor the feeling not just to be a tourist but a good friend! Eric, our driver, was very friendly and knowledgeable, not only of the places we visited but the city as well. He arrived on time to pick us up and went over the schedule for the day. At the Giraffe Center, we were able to focus on feeding the giraffes while Eric took pictures and videos of us....

This tour is such a great value, there were other tours that we looked at that were much more expensive. We were very happy with the tour and would gladly take it again if we are ever back in Nairobi.Stephanie R

Our driver was supposed to pick us up at 9 in the morning. At 9.30am we called to confirm we were going to be picked up. We were told the driver was late, but someone would come to drive us to elephant orphanage. At 10.30 a car came to pick us up; up to that point nobody had bothered to contact u...
Our driver was supposed to pick us up at 9 in the morning. At 9.30am we called to confirm we were going to be picked up. We were told the driver was late, but someone would come to drive us to elephant orphanage. At 10.30 a car came to pick us up; up to that point nobody had bothered to contact us to tell us there was a delay (no problem with waiting when you know that its worth it). When we arrived at the elephant orphanage at 11.30 (an hour late) we were told our names werent on the list so we could not go inside to see the elephants (Manager recalled telling Douglas the day before that there was no availability for that day - we booked the tour two weeks prior!). Driver took us to the giraffe centre and Karen Blixen museum, then to lunch nearby. Erick, our driver for the day, was very kind and took us where we wanted to go, no complaints there.v0d0nnell

WORST TOUR I HAVE EVER BEEN ON - AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK GETTING KIDNAPPED. They made me change drivers three times and one of the times they actually asked me to wait on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere while a new car came to get me. CRAZY CHAOS - INCOMPETENT PYSCHO DOUGLAS S...

CRAZY CHAOS - INCOMPETENT PYSCHO DOUGLAS SHOULD BE AVOIDED IF YOU VALUE YOUR SAFETY. They also made us stop for almost an hour at this awful shopping place which wasn't on the itinerary and wasted part of my last day in Nairobi. All of this places are wonderful and can be visited stress-free without these swindlers who play Russian roulette with your safety.alijabz88
