Amazing trip to Delphi with our amazing driver, Dimitri. He was 5 minutes early to pick us up and then stopped at a great coffee shop on the way to Delphi. Delphi itself, was magical and I'm so glad we did this tour! On the way back, Demitri arranged for us to eat at a beautiful restaurant that overlooked the sea. The waitstaff there was incredible and made the experience all the better! Overall, a fantastic trip and worth every penny!Highly recommend a private day trip to Delphi with Jim/Dimitris! Highly recommend a private day trip to Delphi with Jim/Dimitris! We spent a full day exploring Delphi. The conversation with Jim was engaging and fun. Jim was extremely knowledgeable, polite, and went way over the top to ensure my family of 4 had a perfect day. The history Jim shared was incredible. And to top it off we had a fantastic lunch with a view you see in the movies! Thank you Jim for creating the perfect memory of Delphi! Our guide, George greeted us like we were old friends, and was dressed professionally spoke with pleasant energetic (and sincere) friendliness. Our guide, George greeted us like we were old friends, and was dressed professionally spoke with pleasant energetic (and sincere) friendliness. He was kind and accommodating to our awkwardness; never condescending or disrespectful. Very quickly he demonstrated his excellent verbal skills in English, and despite the obvious, heavy Greek accent, was very clear. George’s information, while clearly scripted, was presented expertly (as would be expected from someone who has done this 5 days a week for the last 20 years,) being well-timed, but not rush, and sprinkled with humor and a passion for the love of his country! We were captivated. He even tolerated our attempt at learning a few words in Greek (I recommend a little self study prior to your trip - the locals really appreciate (if not getting some amusement from) the attempt to communicate in their language.) The vehicle used in this 8-hour tour, while showing signs of age and wear, was clean and comfortable, and spacious with a lot of windows. It was a bit difficult to hear George at some times over the road noise of SUV’s tires on some of the less-modern, less-maintained roadways. Otherwise, a very nice ride! We had plenty of time (2 hours) to visit the ruins of the temple of Apollo and the museum before visiting the temple to Athena (a separate site just downhill from Apollo,) and then going to lunch. The attached picture is the view of the town/port from the hillside where we had lunch. A storm was moving in over the mountains (right - out of frame) and the weather was perfect! The food was lovely (and not expensive at all,) and the restaurant staff (I think they may have been the owners,) while also pleasant, we’re more business-like in their dealings with us. All in all, if you want a terrific experience seeing Delphi, we highly recommend this private tour. It is really special!!Dimitris was a really nice, helpful and knowledgeable tour guide. He answered all our questions and made a great suggestion for lunch.
