Monument valley is an excellent place to visit with it’s beautiful monuments, buttes and spires. There are so many of these monuments that you can spend an entire day exploring it. Our tour guide Toney was excellent and we would recommend him.

The checkin process was however not very organized. (Others on the tour called it confusing). We had to ask several tour operators ( there are at least 10-20) in the open parking lot of View hotel to find out who was our operator since Viator did not provide the name, no one knew who we had our reservation with. The location that Viator had told us was not correct (hotel lobby). When we went to the lobby they directed us to parking lot, from one location of parking lot we had to go to another and then another. It was very frustrating. Finally we found our operator after asking about 5-6 operators. The phone number Viator gave us never picked up or called back (Shay). After that the trip was ok. Viator needs to streamline this process. There is no internet in the entire monument valley (Make your preparations at the hotel where there is WiFi).
The open vans are ok ( not very comfortable). The entire ride is on a dirt road and can get bumpy at times. Not sure why they cannot have better vans/ trucks. It looks like something from 50-60s.
2.5 hour tour is enough- 3.5 hour tour gets too long. No one wanted to get down to see the sights after about 2 hours of the ride.

Overall No complains with the tour itself, however Viator needs to insist with their partners to be more organized.

Toney was a wonderful guide. He told us so much, sang and played his drum. He even showed us how to take better pictures with our IPHONES. What a great teacher of his culture he is and a terrific driver.

Our guide had great knowledge of the Navajo property where we toured. He had a lot of inside information, and allowed us to take great photos that most guests were not able to access on their own. Our guide Toney was really good with helping us take great photos with vantage points that you would never have known if he weren't there. I highly encourage everyone to use the native guides for the best experience possible.

Due to park closure, Monument Valley Safari Tours, provided us with an alternate tour that did not enter the park. It was sensational! Our small group of 6 had an amazing and much more personal experience than what I would expect is the norm. Our guide, Toney Begay, was truly the best we could have ever asked for. He was friendly, funny, had answers for all of our questions, he told great stories and gave us an awesome tour. He is also a wizard with cell phone photography! We want to go back when the park is open and do the regular tour with Toney.

Because of Covid, MV Park was still closed; so Monument Valley Safari Tours arranged a tour of Teardrop Arch and some ancient Navajo cave dwellings just outside the park. Our guide, Toney Begay, was excellent. Not only did he show us the sites, but shared much about the culture and sang for us. It was wonderful! I highly recommend this tour and Toney.

Because of the tribal park closure, I took an abbreviated version of the tour. It was memorable, interesting and beautiful. Toney is an excellent guide. When booking, use Utah time! The road is a bit obscure but Google Maps will get you there. Be prepared for a little hiking with good shoes and sunscreen. Be sure to look at your surroundings and appreciate the “hidden pictures.” It’s an ancient place, a bit harsh, but a wonder.

Tony provided us with a great alternative tour since the park was still closed. We were able to get amazing photos, learn about medicinal plants, listen to him sing a couple of songs his father used to sing, listen to some interesting stories about his family, and see where some Anasazi used to live in caves. It was a great experience!

Our tour of Monument Valley was with Joe or Joseph. He was incredible—so knowledgeable of his culture and so willing to share himself with us. We will definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

We chose the 3.5 Hour tour booking through Viator which used Monument Valley Safari. This was beyond our hoped for and most anticipated part of our trip. Information provided was accurate and specific. Our tour guide, Bobby, was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and most accommodating. By going into the back country on this specific tour, we enjoyed amazing sights and with Bobby's knowledge of geology, and his Native American Culture, it became the experience of a lifetime. No question went unanswered during the 3.5 hours that flew by. In addition to detailed explanations at each sight, with ample time for photos, he provided a most special two minutes when he played a song from the Navajo culture on his flute. It was most appropriate for the serene and beautiful setting. Bobby was also very skilled in where and how to take some of the most truly amazing and sometimes unusual, but always awesome, photos! I encourage anyone looking for a truly special tour to book through Viator and hope Bobby is your guide!

We started off the day by missing our 8am tour - because there was no indication which time zone the tour started (it looked like it was Arizona time. However the hotel receptionist let us use their phone and Viator said we could take the next tour as it was not full! The tour was advertised as 2 and 1/2 hours, but ended up almost 4 hours. There was 1 bathroom break (portable toilet) early in the tour. We saw many things in the restricted area that you could not see on your own. Such as pictographs and a demonstration on weaving (and much more). The vehicle is open air, so if it is cold, dress warm and maybe even a blanket! Well worth the price!

I do not know exactly what we expected on our tour but the result was spectacular. The meeting between us and our guide, Vonn, was great! She took the time to explain all the unseen links and ties of the modern world and of Navajo culture within the Monument Valley and involve all the guests in the tour with questions and answers. She had a superb attitude and was well versed in her trade. Just a great experience which surpassed expectations. Will certainly pass on positive recommendations to all who ask about the tour and Safari tours. Oh and by the way her musical ability on the flute is amazing....she played it at the "Big Hogan". Viators site made the scheduling extremely easy which led to a wonderful experience, thanks to all!
