My Dad and I have fished with Mike for 5 or 6 years ago. Mike also guided my Mom and Dad on a separate trip. They were 74 yrs old then and Mom was concerned about floating the river. Mike was great and she still talks about how patient, positive and FUN he was on the trip. Mike works harder than any other guide we have seen to put clients on fish and to ensure that the float is fun and safe. Our two trips with Mike in 2018 were epic. Mike put Dad on over a dozen bows over 22 inches and ended the day (literally the last 10 min of the float) with a 28" bow for me. (He was more excited than I was) Funny thing is that when we arrived back at the Hutch (great place to stay in Cooper Landing by the way), we talked with another guy who had floated the same day on the Middle (we saw him several times during the day) with another guide. He had not caught a single bow and only a couple of dollies. His guide had said that the fish were not biting due to an "egg glut". That may have been true, but Mike had put us on over 30 fish and worked constantly changing egg patterns and finding pockets of active fish. Something to be said for local knowledge... Thanks, Mike, for the continued great service and friendship!!! I cannot give a better recommendation for fishing the Kenai than Mike Adams!Fished 4 full days with Mike the week after Labor Day. Fished 4 full days with Mike the week after Labor Day. Went with a friend, Tim, who has fished with Mike previous years and highly recommended him. Weather was perfect. Cold foggy mornings and warm sunny days. The fog made the scenery eerie but picturesque. We were targeting big rainbows.....and that's what we caught ..... big fat rainbows. Also caught various salmon species, lots of Dollies and Arctic Char. The action was non stop. Mike steered us where the fish were. He worked hard keeping us in the productive runs. I learned a lot from Mike. Without his guidance i don't believe I would have landed some of the big brutes. Those rainbows danced on the water, charged the boat full speed, and fought non stop. (Mike kept insisting on quickly getting the fish on the reel...absolutely a must). After multiple days fishing with Mike, my wrist and shoulder ached from all the reeling. (ibuprofen helped). Saw lots of bears, eagles everywhere snagging fish with their talons and all kinds of wildlife. Need to just stop and look around. Recommend stopping in Sterling for breakfast at the first gas station you hit coming from Coopers' Landing. Fresh made breakfast burritos with fresh made salsa. Coffee there is not bad either. All the locals seem to stop there for breakfast. Definitely returning next year. This time with my daughter. Mike...Thanks for the great experience. Mike made for an amazing salmon fishing day. He had done his scouting and found out based on fish river count entering the river, best location and adjusted. While many spots had numerous groups fishing the banks, he found a spot where we were the only ones. After some fly fishing lessons we started to fish. After some adjustments throughout the day, some tips, we maxed out our count. After Mike cleaned the fish, the only thing left is salmon supper. I have fished twice with Alaskan Angling Adventures and I probably will do again. Even though I live in Alaska and can get to the river in a short time, I enjoy fishing with Mike as I always get to see a bit of the river I am unfamiliar with, learn new tips and tricks I can apply to my own fishing and run idea's past him and we float. Mike is very patient with a relative newcomer to the sport like myself and he takes the stress out of it and allows me to enjoy myself even if I am flaying about. so far I have never failed to catch a fish on a trip. I hope to float with him again soon.Mike Adams is our “go to guide” for salmon, steelhead, and rainbows. We fish the Kenai almost weekly.
