Overview
The Mekong Eyes combines regional boat-building traditions with modern comforts to become the perfect holiday vessel to cruise the Mekong Delta in style. At 39 m long and 8.5 m wide, the Mekong Eyes river cruiser was built out of an old, traditional rice barge with the finest quality wood, and artfully decorated by skilled craftsmen of the Mekong Delta.One of the traditional ceremonies performed on a newly constructed Mekong boat is the “eye opening”. The eyes are painted on the bow for good luck, a wide-awake crew and fast and safe journeys. The river cruise boat can comfortably accommodate up to 30 passengers on a large area of approx. 250 m2, it’s like a floating hotel.

We weren't too sure what to expect with this cruise. Dirty river water and boredom or something else?/ Well we definately got something else! The boat is super cute refurbed 10 yrs ago. Cabin was as described...cosy! This did mean smallish but for one night it was 100% fine. You aren't real...

Cabin was as described...cosy! This did mean smallish but for one night it was 100% fine. You aren't really in it until bedtime. Food was delicious, excursions were interesting and just seeing the life on the river whilst sipping a cocktail on the lounger was great. Lee and Jasmine were the best hosts. Lee's knowledge of the goings on and local knowledge was superb. Highly recommend this cruise with Meekong Eyes cruises.marie_christin_2022

Wir sollten eigentlich mit dem größeren Schiff fahren, wurden aber 2 Tage vorher auf die kleinere Dragon Eyes "upgegraded". Die Dragon Eyes hat nur Platz für 4 Personen, sodass wir nur mit 2 weiteren Personen an Bord waren, was ganz angenehm war. Das Schiff selbst ist sehr schön mit einen gemütli...

Die Dragon Eyes hat nur Platz für 4 Personen, sodass wir nur mit 2 weiteren Personen an Bord waren, was ganz angenehm war. Das Schiff selbst ist sehr schön mit einen gemütlichen kleinen Zimmer und unser Guide David war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Leider war die Tour nicht ganz wie erhofft. Vom Delta haben wir nicht so viel gesehen, da wir eine doch recht kurze Strecke gefahren sind, die Tour ist in Can Tho gestartet und wurde dort auch beendet, sodass wir nicht viel vom Delta befahren haben. Die eigentliche Strecke, die auf der Website ausgewiesen ist, ist eigentlich eine andere, auf der man mehr Zeit auf dem Wasser verbringt und weniger im Zubringertaxi von Saigon aus. Auch die Vorbereitung scheint nicht ganz funktioniert zu haben, denn die meisten Getränke waren noch vor dem Abendessen leer. Das Essen selbst war aber sehr gut. In der Nacht war anscheinend auch das Brauchwasser (für Toilette, Dusche etc.). aufgebraucht, sodass am zweiten Tag kein Wasser mehr verfügbar war. Bedauerlicherweise hat das Personal des Schiffes dazu beigetragen, den ohnehin schon sehr verschmutzten Fluss weiter zu verschmutzen, indem unsere leeren Getränke-Dosen einfach über Bord geworfen wurden. Kein Wunder, dass dort so viel Müll schwimmt, auch die Touristen-Schiffe tragen ganz offensichtlich dazu bei. Die Tour an Land war ganz nett, unser Guide war sehr bemüht uns viele Informationen zu geben, leider war die Tour sehr kurz und einen Großteil sitzt man bei einer der Familien rum und wartet darauf, wieder zurück zum Schiff zu gehen. Auch vom Besuch des schwimmenden Marktes am nächsten Tag hatten wir uns mehr erhofft. Unser Guide hatte uns vorab selbst gesagt, dass das meiste Treiben vor um 9 stattfindet, danach wird es ruhiger auf dem Markt. Leider waren wir erst nach um 9 dort, sodass tatsächlich nicht mehr viel zu sehen war. Sehr schade. Diese Tour würden wir nicht noch einmal buchen.Graeme D

Best 3 days of a 3 week tour of Vietnam. The team on the boat were amazing especially daisy and Harry, funny friendly we all joked and laughed for the whole trip including me and my travel buddies dressing up in banana pattern shorts shirt and hats for the day. The locals laughed and waved and so did we 😁 The off boat tours were great and the food on board was just awesome, we got them to get the beer nice and cold so three happy kiwis. Daisy and Harry thank you for a trip never to be forgotten.
