Overview
In this full day tour you will know the best archaeological sites in the entire Sacred Valley of the Incas. Discover this enchanting and historic valley as we visit the enigmatic Moray archaeological site, where crops were produced at different heights in a stunning terrace system.
Then, we will visit the town of Maras and the Salineras, where a salt water springs from the mountains and descends into individual evaporation chambers that have been in operation since the time of the Incas to the present day.
Finally we will arrive at the colorful town of Chinchero, where we will learn a little more about Inca history and the creation of Andean textiles.

Stop At: Moray Valle Sagrado de los Incas, Maras 08655 Peru
To start the Maras Moray & Chinchero Tour we will pick you up from your hotel around 8 AM and head to Moray. The drive is about 1 hour and 20 minutes and is absolutely beautiful. You will drive through the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, through lush yellow fields of wheat, past some villages.
Finally you will arrive to the fascinating display of terraces in Moray. Moray boasts three amphitheater-like terraces made by the Incas. These terraces, which are carved deep into the earth in a bowl shape, were thought to be used to determine the optimal conditions for growing crops.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Salinas de Maras, Carreta a Maras, Maras 08655 Peru
When you are done exploring Moray you will head to the salt mines of Maras, which is about 2 miles away. This village is known as a former salt-producing center that is thought to date back all the way to pre-Inca times. There are over 3000 salt pools all carved into the mountain side, being filled daily by a little stream of water.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Complejo Arqueologico Chinchero, Chinchero 08651 Peru
The last place to visit will be Chinchero. Here we can admire the well-preserved Inka walls of the main square as well as the many altars. We will also visit the beautiful colonial church, unique for its interior artwork and imagery. Moving on we will participate in a wonderful introduction and learning experience of the art of Andean textiles; throughout the afternoon we will become acquainted with the wisdom of Andean weavings as maintained since long before Inka times.

After about a week hiking and climbing over and around Incan ruins in Peru we needed a quieter day with a later wakeup time that would get us somewhere super interesting. This day trip was great. The salt pools at Maras were amazing to see and the ruins at Chinchero were some of the best examples...
After about a week hiking and climbing over and around Incan ruins in Peru we needed a quieter day with a later wakeup time that would get us somewhere super interesting. This day trip was great. The salt pools at Maras were amazing to see and the ruins at Chinchero were some of the best examples of Incan stonework we saw. We also loved that this tour was just for us. We paid perhaps a little more but it's worth it to have more control over the itinerary.lisbetsuarez

We took a full day tour with Ronald of Maras, Moray and Chinchero and we loved it! Ronald's history knowledge comes for his formal school/university education and life experience as his mother tongue is Quechua, in essence this was an all around Jaw dropping views as well as history loaded tour. ...
