Every morning, before the sun is up; as the street lamps of Calcutta go off, we start the Magic hour tour to watch Calcutta Wake up.
We hop on to the first bus of the day from the oldest neighborhood of Calcutta as the city enters the enchanting Magic Hour. Meandering through the sleepy 300 year locality in full throttle ,the next few hours are spent visiting the oldest areas of Calcutta.
Before the bustling giant city wakes up we’d have used all the iconic modes of transport, had breakfast in a century old hidden spot, gossiped about Calcutta like a Local, talked about its history, anthropology and fallen desperately in Love with the city.
The “unguided tour” as we call it starts with Chai (tea) in a bhaad (earthen cups) and finishes with traditional Bengali breakfast, the best sweets of Calcutta.

We booked the magic hour tour and found it to be an amazing experience . Soham is friendly , knowledgeable and passionate about his city . From the neighbourhood walk to the flower market the entire tour was an amazing experience. We did this as part of his fixed group tours but we enjoyed it so ...
We booked the magic hour tour and found it to be an amazing experience . Soham is friendly , knowledgeable and passionate about his city . From the neighbourhood walk to the flower market the entire tour was an amazing experience. We did this as part of his fixed group tours but we enjoyed it so much we fixed a private food tour with him the next day . And the bhajiyas , puchkas rolls all amazing but even more interesting was the local anecdotes and the history behind each food stall we visited that Soham was able to relate a totally fun evening with some amazing surprises !! We were so enjoying our time that we asked him to curate a private tour including the Kalighat an Aarti at a shiv mandir , the coffee house and sunset on a boat … all amazing amazing experiences a fabulous mix of spirituality and history. We were able to get an amazing overview of Kolkatta it’s history it’s food and it’s people thanks to these tourshappinessishere

My spouse and I went to the Magic Hour Tour organised by Mr. Soham. Even though our journey was quite intense already and we were hesitating of attending such an early hour city tour, still we decided to go for it, as we felt that it would be a very special tour. And it exceeded our expectations....
My spouse and I went to the Magic Hour Tour organised by Mr. Soham. Even though our journey was quite intense already and we were hesitating of attending such an early hour city tour, still we decided to go for it, as we felt that it would be a very special tour. And it exceeded our expectations. Mr. Soham is a very intelligent, gentle and full of life energy guide who is obviously in love with his native city of Kolkata. Both his speech and language are flawless, he also has a great sence of humour. He guided us very carefully and responsibly. We have learnt many interesting details about the city and had a chance to see and feel it's soul through his charming stories. The tour is perfectly planned in terms of the route, vehicles, tea, food, impressions on the way, everything just so well balanced. It is not a purely walking tour, don't expect to walk 10 km straight. It is a mild multimodal tour which includes all the typical Calcutta transport experience. We were totally engaged and did not feel tired afterwards. Certainly no regrets of waking up so early, it was a genuine magic hour tour. Mr. Soham also kindly helped us with all our numerous questions of how to spend the rest of our stay in Kolkata, in very generous details. We highly appreciate meeting this talanted guide and a wonderful personality. The breakfast was very delicious and authentic. The tour was so full of various positive emotions, it had a very rich and generous schedule. Not a single moment we were bored. And a special gratitude for taking beautiful pictures of us throughout the tour. This guide is a real professional, keeping in mind so many organisational moments, and doing it so naturally. We had a wonderful time on this tour. Saw everything we wanted to see, learned so much about Kolkata and had fun. It was the last thing we did on the day we left and it was the perfect way to finish a our time in the City of Joy. Thank you so much, we will do it again next time.
