A tremendous museum of transportation and science bout Switzerland. I spent my most time in the aviation and railway portions. The aviation museum is fascinating and fun - great coverage of the history of air travel in the last century, with the best parts on 1950's and 1960's travel. Railway section also very good, with an emphasis on locomotives. A good days visit.

I'm a car guy. I love anything about cars, so how could I not go to the Swiss Museum of Transport? I was disappointed. There are pavilions devoted to cars, planes, trains, boats--but the exotic/interesting cars were mostly on a multistory display along a wall. Random cars would be brought down by robots for us to see--but from afar, with no history, context or detail. I actually found the display about planes to be most interesting, inclusive of a candid discussion of the tumultuous history of the Swiss airline industry. The exhibits are kid friendly--very kid friendly, and the children were everywhere. They seemed to have a good time. This adult would skip the museum.

Caught bus 6 to get to the museum. This place is huge. Separated into many different area, and all areas are so interesting. You could spend a week here and not see everything. Went from building to building and then to see the outside items. You see car, trains, airplanes, things from the past and from the present. So interactive, with lots of places for you to get to play games or learn how to land a plane. Kids were having a wonderful time with all the things to do and see and adults would be interested in all the exhibits and so much information in German, English, and I think maybe French. We were able to see so much and really enjoyed the entire museum. Think there was a movie, but we ran out of time so we only saw the museum.

I would highly recommend a trip to the Swiss Transport Museum. There is so much to see and do here, you can spend a whole day. We went as a couple but there were lots of families there and loads of stuff for kids to do. I was impressed by how many interactive exhibits they had, which were very fun. And of course, don't miss the Lindt Chocolate ride and the chocolate tasting in the shop! We didn't have time to fit in the theatre but wish we had.

Expecting great things after reading the museum’s lofty ratings across online platforms, the experience failed to measure up. The lack of air conditioning in the sweltering heat of a Swiss summer day made the experience miserable, but we tried to look beyond that to provide a reasonable assessment of the exhibits. The displays are sprawling and offer incredible variety. But few aspects were truly memorable. Highlights of rare items include entire planes and trains, Felix Baumgartner’s suit utilized for his record 24-mile skydive in 2012, the passenger cabin of a zeppelin, and the section of Sim World downstairs with unusual contraband confiscated at Zurich’s airport. A glassed escalator that shows the inner workings of the mechanism was possibly more interesting than the nearby cars on display. The rest was rather boring, but the heat inside these poorly ventilated buildings is what made it most uncomfortable.

This is my second time at this museum and I find it just as enjoyable. The museum is divided in a section for train, automobiles, with a few bicycles, boats and airplanes. I enjoy most the train section with the famous crocodile but all are informative. It would be great with children as there are many activities specifically set up for them. The only drawback is that the museum is quite expensive. My son and his wife did a VR simulation on climbing the Matterhorn. The experience was good but very brief for the cost.

So we felt odd walking around what we were told was a children's museum, but we were very impressed by the size, quality and complexity of this museum. We adults loved it all. The younger kids and teens seemed to have fun. But I've never seen anyone have as much fun as the 7-10 year old's just going nuts on the many many elaborate interactive experiences. The only transportation museums I've been to that compared was the Henry Ford Innovation Museum in Detroit and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center Smithsonian Museum at Dulles airport (not the small Air and Space Museum on the mall in DC).

One of the best museums we have visited. It is extensive with large sections devoted to each type of transport. The space exhibit was great and you must try the “Cube”. There are lots of interactive exhibits. We were there for five hours and only left because they were closing. Well worth the money. Perhaps try the Planetarium next time.

We purchased a full day ticket for 62 CHF to enable entry to all activities. We spent 4 hours here. The museum is very detailed and interesting however not all information is in English which we found repeatedly frustrating. Also the times of Planetarium, i-max and Lindt adventure are not coordinated so you can't do one after the other. The sessions overlap. So we missed out on the Planetarium in the end because the Lindt adventure wad delayed starting. More sessions should be given for Planetarium after 1.30 pm. This is promoted for visitors but is targeted really for German speakers in my opinion. Specifically there was no English explanations we could find in the Energy section which was disappointing.

I must admit, I am a big train buff growing up in NYC, riding the subways, playing with model Lionel Trains, they always fascinate me on how all that metal rolls on the tracks. Besides all the Trains, Automotive, Boats, Aviation, Space, and under water displays and the history of it all, they did a really good job on all the displays, history and all the relics that is placed in this massive yard of information. Plenty to see, plenty of photos, and a wealth of history from near and far adorns this well displayed museum. We definitely enjoyed it. And we also liked the chocolate Info ride also!!! A must see ... glad we made plans to see this place. It may not be interesting to you but we loved it!!! 🚙🚂🛩️🚤🛶🛰️🛵

The museum has extensive information about the transportation, their types, history and has interactive and simulation games, it is interesting but needs time i would say 2 hours at least only for the transportation,

Amazing. We had taken a boat tour of the lake and the recorded guide on the. boat said not to miss the “unforgettable transportation museum”. So we had to try it. They were right. It was a history of planes, boats, trains, cars and construction in Switzerland. Very interactive for people of all ages. Don’t miss it!

The Swiss Museum of Transportation lives up to the Swiss Quality of Museums. It features extensive examples of vehicles used throughout Swiss History and their evolutions. This would be an eye-opening museum even for people who aren't enthusiastic about Transportation history. They also have almost every exhibit in English so you needn't be too concerned. Their museum features extensive transportation exhibits from Train/Rail, Car, Sea, and Air/Space. They also sometimes feature the engineering behind the exhibit: what was particularly memorable was their Gotthard Base Tunnel and how they teach people about the various roles under the SBB (Swiss Federal Trains). It is also rather children friendly. There are also many interactive activities for all ages to delve in such as learning about traffic safety to plotting a world map. You can opt to take a bus down to the Verkehrshaus/Lido Bus Stop, or the Luzern Verkehrshaus Train Station. Enter the Museum from the entrance located along Lidostrasse street. 50% for Swiss Travel Pass. <>

It was the most fantastic museum I have ever seen and I am not sure term "museum" us enough to give it credit. Loads of interactive exhibits. Real artefacts of modern history. A true dream come true for people keen on mechanics and all cinds of hardware. I spent there 6 hours because everything was so interesting for me. The museum is divided into 4 themed parts: aircraft, cars, trains and boats. Each one more exciting then previous one. Everyone can find something for themselv.

This is an amazing museum. So many of the exhibits are interactive and kids can actually do stuff and sit in and in vehicles. Every bit of information was in 4 languages. We were there 3 hours and didn’t even have time for the Planetarium. It’s right in the Lake shore near the Lido. The only downside was the lack of water fountains to fill up water bottles. You had to purchase very expensive bottled water.

Family with teens (14 , 15 year old girls). A lot of reviews said expensive and not a lot to do i there....OK so as it's in Switzerland it's not cheap but we went and I have to say very impressed. We only did the museum (which included the media museum too) and the chocolate experience but we still spent 6 hours in there!!! Lockers are 2chf each which you get back , you can take a packed lunch in , and everything interactive (other than some climbing experience) is included and totally free. Not too sure what to say but we loved it

IMAX - Dinosaurs in the Antarctis - the cycles of warm and cold on our planet are interesting to learn about and let reflect about the actual climate warming
