To find our how much of the surrounding beauty was brought to the island was surprising. Laid out well and relaxing spots to stop and take it all in.

I read the very detailed guidebook while my wife looked at all of the plants. The staff is enjoyable and welcoming. They have many trees and plants that are nearly extinct. The mountains above make a great backdrop for photos and the ocean the other way.

We went with a group of two kids (8 and 11) and two grandparents (plus my husband and me) and it was great for everyone. Plan to walk up a significant hill, but it is worth it. We learned a lot and had some of the best views of our entire trip!!!

Overall we really enjoyed the beautiful gardens. The fact that it is self guided allows you to spend as much or little time as you want (we took about an hour.). However, you obviously don’t get as much story as perhaps other gardens. The views and plants are spectacular. The contrast between native and non native species is well done. There is a rather steep climb that may be a little too much for those with walking difficulties. Overall a great value and recommended.
