The tour of The Last Supper was cancelled without warning due to a stop working meeting, and we have not received a refund,
Great tour, very knowledgeable guide, amazing place to visit , would only complain about the 15 minutes they allow you in
It was totally disorganized and our times kept getting changed within 24 hours of our reservation. The representative was unkind and suggested I just Cancel if I didn’t want the new times offered. Then Sending me a new confirmation in Italian was obviously a rude move as well . Never use this tour company again .
We arrived prior to the time of the tour. We messaged the guide several times and got no response. We asked all guides in the piazza but our names were not on the list. I give it one star as the guide did leave our tickets at the entrance we were to walk through on our own.
The viewing itself was great, as was our guide. However, we got changes to our schedule very late in the day, and 3 or 4 different names were given to us for our guide. This was not the fault of the guide, but of viator. We couldn’t get a new voucher for the newly scheduled session, because the “sender” didn’t know how to send it. We honestly thought it was a scam. Not what I expect from Viator.
Our guide was excellent. Recommend her. However our tickets were for 3:00 and somehow Trip Advisor had a guide set up for 10:15am. So our guide was asked to fill in at last minute
The Last Supper by Da Vinci is housed in the refectory adjacent to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is about a ten minute walk from metro station Cadorna on line M2. Unless you book months in advance, you end up paying an exorbitant fee to a third party for the pleasure of viewing the masterpiece for 15 minutes. I paid around £45 with ‘Get Your Guide’. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She gave out plenty of information about the Last Supper and also the impressive Crucifixion fresco by Donato on the opposite wall. Both works are hugely impressive especially considering the restoration both have gone through especially with the WWII bombing. A worthwhile but costly visit, bearing in mind the fact that you can view countless masterpieces in the National Gallery in London for nothing.
Like others we have had our last supper tickets changed to a date when we had left Milan with no notification and now can’t access any through another provider. Suggest don’t use this operator. We are so disappointed.
Guided tour from Viator - excellent guide - very professional and knowledgeable. Staff in the booking office also very helpful.
Guide was very knowledgeable. Almost missed our timed entry, despite arriving 15 minutes prior to start, due to not able to find guide at meeting point. A sign with a name on it should be a requirement for this experience.
We have waited months for this experience but 24 hrs before we were to see the Lord’s supper you cancelled us! I have used Viator so many times and never this experience. When we return we will book only with the church.
Elena Bonalumi was the guide who gave us the tour. We had a date scheduled to see the Last Supper which Elena had to due to an emergency. She worked very hard to reschedule us. When we met her for the tour, she spent a lot of time with us talking about the Last Supper before we actually went inside. This was very helpful in that we knew exactly what to look at before we went in. Because of the cancellation, she brought us a gift and offered to buy us lunch. She even said that the next time we come to Millan she will give us a private tour of the city for free. She is a very kind, considerate and knowledgeable person and we highly recommend her
Elena was a very good guide. She met us in the square and gave us a small speaker to use while we were inside. This ended up being quite remarkable because I did not need to stand near her or even look at her while inside. I could spend my time gazing at this beautiful masterpiece while simultaneously listening to what she was saying which was very interesting. 15 minutes goes by very quickly so savor every minute. Pay close attention to the pictures in the hallway after you see the fresco. They show how the monks protected the fresco during WWII.
A bucket list experience. Seeing the Last Supper in the room it was created in as opposed to a photo was magical. The guide was excellent and provided an enthusiastic and informed interpretation of what we were looking at. I did not appreciative how much drama and construction went into the the mural until she highlighted the details - for example Judas is not darker than the others but rather he moved into shadow when Jesus said "One of you will betray me". He also knocked over a salt cellar which is apparently bad luck in Italy. If you are visiting Milan then this is a "must do" but ensure you have booked ahead of time as there are no tickets available on the day. Also take the time to visit the church of Sainte Maria Delle Grazie next door - the mural was in created in the dining room not the church!
Our guide never showed up or responded to our many messages through the all. Now we need to spend the time to be refunded.
Seeing the actual Last Supper was the highlight. The arbitrary changing of our start time by 1.5 hours was the low point.
It started off poorly as we got to security and we got told to pour our unopened drinks from our bags away. A better option would have been to take our bag to the lockers in the visitor centre if we had been told about them. The guide said she would be speaking in Italian and gave us the headphones and electronic guide, pointless when it’s in a language you don’t speak. You can also download the app. This doesn’t work on android and on iOS the headphones are not compatible with iPhone so take your own. The guide did speak some English after the 15 minutes in the painting room but it felt like an afterthought. The painting was impressive to see though but not an overall great package.
The description Elena gave for each apostle was very well done. Going into much detail re Leonardo DaVinci’s painting the Last Supper. The tour was very well done & quite informative.
It was a little unsettling to not know where to meet the guide right up until the appointed time, but once we connected our guide was lovely, informed and clear.
Do not buy Last Supper tickets from Viator. I purchased our through three four months in advance. They canceled two days ahead of our time. Too late to purchase new tickets. To add insult to injury they shorted me $35 on refund. They offered no excuse and no options. We went to Milan specifically to see this. Don’t do it!
