The guide was nice but the waves were too rough. We were never going to the cove or the caves that day and they didn't tell us until we got there. Our group couldn't make it out safely and we were not offered even a partial credit.

Gavin was amazing! Treated us like friends. We couldn’t go in the caves because of the waves which was fine by me. Appreciate that Gavin recommended not going in there with our safety in interest. We saw Garibaldi, Spiney Lobster, Sea Lions and Calicos. Would recommend this place to anyone. Very down to earth friendly people. We will be back for the shark tour !

The tour guide Jack is really great. There were 4 of us out with him and he made sure we were safe at all times. I’m from Southern California and he knew so much local information that I wasn’t aware of. It’s a really amazing experience and I’ll be going again in the summer.

Bryan was our snorkel guide and he was fantastic! The tour itself was so awesome and I can't wait to do it again. Bryan made sure we were all comfortable and having a blast. He was overall a very personable guy and I would recommend him and this business to any and everyone!

A big thanks to our tour guide McKenna! She was an amazing guide through our tour and made sure we were all comfortable with our gear before going into the water. She was very patient and made sure we felt safe. I definitely recommend to first time snorkelers when in San Diego.

McKenna was amazing! The water was cold and the van needs to be replaced but we saw some pretty cool sea lion action!

Jazmin was a great guide. She kept us safe, and made sure we understood all precautions and the reasons why. We did not get much time in the cave itself - the tide was a little high, and waves were unpredictable. We saw SO many sea lions up close. They were swimming under us on our way back from the cave. Be aware, the stated price does not include $15/person rental on wetsuit. It covers the cost of snorkeling mask, fins, shuttle to and from the cove, and the guide. You need to be a pretty good swimmer to get into and out of the cave. The rest of the time, the pace is pretty chill.

Flew to SD, planned the trip, carried the equipment and dressed accordingly and all we got was the tour of was cancelled in the last hour due to small group size. They value their profit more than your time.

With so many things working against us, La Jolla cove and cave snorkel tour, created a fun and safe experience for my husband and I. The weather was not the best, visibility wasn’t great but our tour guide made sure to do as much as possible so we would get the best experience. Even when the tour was over our guide suggested many fantastic locations to visit during the rest of our trip. With only so many days in San Diego, if we had just one more, both my husband and I agreed that we would do this snorkeling tour again or one of the others they offer. Thank you so much for the wonderful time.

I thought this would be a great experience, but it was the worst of our whole trip for many reasons. My husband and I came for our first snorkel trip (ever) and they knew that we were new to this. The wetsuits they provide for you are far too thin for the weather, and they don’t include booties or gloves. We were informed they carried everything we needed on hand but we weren’t offered it. Since it was our first visit we didn’t know what we needed / how the water is. I believe it is their job to educate and guide their visitors on this. Why offer wetsuits if they don’t do anything because they’re too thin. Not being prepared to enter cold water is very dangerous, especially when you’re swimming out past the shore. Our guide did not instruct us on anything related to sea life except ‘don’t touch the sea lions’. They have faulty equipment that isn’t tested before entering the water. My husband is 6’2 and stayed manageably warm, but i’m 5’6 and thin so I got cold very fast and there was no way out of the water because we had swam out. I swam back to shore and sat on the shore while they finished the dive. I was so cold I had to sit on the shore for a few minutes before I could get up and walk. I get that everyone gets cold at different temperatures but when they came back to shore because my husband was worried she asked if I was okay and then left to get the van. I’m glad she got the van so we could leave but she didn’t examine me or offer anything and that is unsafe. Thankfully i’m a nurse and was able to realize my body temperature had dropped a little too low and I was also having an anxiety attack from the cold shock. Shock is complicated but can be dangerous and I could tell, whether it was anxiety or cold, I was in shock. I couldn’t talk very well, my consciousness was altered as I felt confused, and my heart was pounding in my chest with rapid breathing which just makes hyperventilation worse. I was nauseous, disoriented, and had difficulty moving. It was already a scary experience as is and would’ve been worse without my knowledge. I feel as if she should’ve examined me for hypothermic shock and offered care to someone who is in shock because left untreated can be dangerous. And anyone who has had BLS training knows that. It took my husband and I an hour to bring me back to normal. Other than that the van was unsanitary and half broken down and the changing room was dirty. So, my sister is a scuba expert so we called her and she was shocked. The water was 50-60 degrees and she couldn’t believe that we were in 2-3 wetsuits without booties/gloves. My husbands wet suit said 2-3mm, we didn’t check my size. So we called to share our complaints and she said that all the wet suits they provide are 3-4 and they use those year round. But I saw with my own eyes my husbands size was 2-3, so now they are lying to us. I don’t know what size I had on. We decided to have my sister call because she knows more about what is acceptable and they ignored our complaint about the sizes and completely denied a refund. The owner was very rude to her on the phone and didn’t give an ounce of care to our bad experience. He said our dive guide would call her back then hung up on her. Even if my suit was a 3-4 that is still way too thin for 50-60 degree weather and anyone who knows their stuff would agree with that. Mainly I am upset because of the safety issues we encountered on our dive and the unprofessionalism of the owners. We left without saying anything in person because I didn’t feel good, was still shaken up, and we didn’t necessarily realize how bad it was until talking to my sister on what is standard. We left after leaving a tip and a thank you. We tried to make it right and they wanted nothing to do with us, so i’m sharing our experience so nobody has to go through the same thing.

Jack was a great guide. He dug down and picked up a tiger shark for us to pet. Jack guided us as we swam through the cave. It was also awesome that we swam with sea lions.

Dissappointed. The guide outright refused to take us. We told him that we are beginners in swimming and that's when he said I can't take you out. Okay fine. He also refused to refund the money for the booking, saying he was just being "nice" to us.

Called that morning to confirm our tour, the guide had no idea that we had a booking. She had told me that all tours have been canceled due to the high tide. When I asked about a full refund, he said that I needed to contact TripAdvisor because he had not been paid. It was not very easy to confirm or follow through. It’s also disappointing that he had no idea we were coming.

I called two hours before our scheduled time to verify meeting time and location. Was told they canceled our trip. I did not get an email or phone call, it was just luck that I called before we left. They could not rebook us for several days because they claimed they were understaffed due to the holidays. However, after this happened I went back and looked at the reviews and it seems this happens often to a lot of people. Viator should remove this company as an option. Never had trouble booking with Viator before this.
