If you want to discover the truly good wines of the island and where they are produced this tour definitely can be recommended! The host julia is very nice and friendly and has great knowledge about wines and the region. She picked us up from our appartment and first showed us where the grapes and olive trees are growing. After that we stopped at her families place to get a short tour of a generation old winery, we drank the first wine and tryed some fresh local food. We drove then to the next winery to taste 9 local wines in a beautiful place with a great view of the valley.An absolutely fantastic wine tour. An absolutely fantastic wine tour. The four of us were collected and driven in an air- conditioned car by Julia. She was an excellent, local, knowledgable, host and a pleasure to spend the afternoon with. We enjoyed every light hearted minute, from visiting the vineyards to sampling the Oil and the Olives at Julia's family home, complete with its traditional winery. The tasting at the Cooperative was wonderful. We drank some lovely wines and Julia provided us with enough information to help us to improve our choice of wine for the rest of our holiday. Wasn't sure what to expect on this Wine tour on Kefalonia but it was a fantastic way to spend four hours. Julia was the perfect host and the one and only other couple on our tour, Lee and Jodie, were excellent company despite our twenty year age difference. We learnt so many interest things during our four hours and thoroughly enjoyed the wines we tasted. Really enjoyed the light Greek lunch that Julia prepared for us as well. There is the option to buy the wines you have sampled but no pressure at all. If you like wine, we would thoroughly recommend and a huge thank you to Julia for such a memorable afternoon!What a fabulous day we had. Julia was a superb host, she collected us from our villa, and even dropped us off at our chosen restaurant after the tour. The tour is in two parts, first she explains her family's involvement in wine & olive oil production in Kefalonia, offering generous samples of both from the family home (very tasty). The second part is to the co-operative wine production facility, which due to Covid restrictions we couldn't see the production process, but let's face it, what we're really there for is the wine tasting. Julia took us through the wine tasting, sampling 8 varieties which were all well explained and allowed you to sample the differences between the type of grape and growing location. Then there's the wine shop, which you're not obligated to buy from, but the prices are very reasonable and when you've enjoyed the wine, why not indulge yourself. A recommended tour, Julia speaks perfect English and as I stated at the start, a superb host.Julia is a delight and very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Kefalonia. She gladly answered all of our questions which really made our experience special. We were able to taste loads of delicious local wines and foods while enjoying her company!
