Kayak Tour at Shell Key with Capt Yak
Overview
This 3 hour guided tour will take you through a vital eco-system known as Shell Key Preserve.
Having conducted field research through out the world and working at various US Zoos for nearly 30 years, Capt Yak has acquired a vast amount of knowledge regarding the animal and plant life you will encounter.
You will paddle with ease on the some of the most comfortable and best paddling Sit-on-top single or tandem kayaks.
We will venture through mangrove tunnels, over beds of seagrasses and sandbars while encountering wildlife. Midway we will stop on Shell Key. You can take a stroll, swim, find that perfect shell or just relax and take in the surroundings.
On the return trip Capt Yak will continue to share his knowledge and you will be mesmerized by the stories he shares with you.
We have multiple departure times daily that vary between 9:00am-3:00pm based on tides and weather.

What to expect

Stop At: Cattsperr Hole, Tierra Verde, FL 33715, USA
We will explore through and around Mangrove Keys, Beds of Sea Grasses and Sand Bars. Birds, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, shells, manatees a dolphins are some of the wildlife we may encounter. Capt Yak will immerse you in this vital ecosystem and provide you with information on the abundant wildlife and plant life that you will encounter on this 3 hour tour. Don't worry about getting tired, your route will be based on the tide and wind to make the paddle as easy and enjoyable as possible. Midway through the tour you will stop at Shell Key and have time for a stroll, take a dip in the warm gulf waters, look for that special shell, have a snack or just relax and take it all in. On the return trip you will continue to be mesmerized with your interactions with your guide. With nearly 30 years experience conducting field research around the world and working in zoos Greg Has acquired a vast amount of knowledge that crosses over to his passion of kayaking Shell Key Preserve for many years.

This was so much fun and very much so of a workout. This is not the weak! The Mangroves were okay but a little tight to get through. The depth of water was not bad either (about waist level at the highest) only thing is that I wish we were provided with a light snack. Make sure you bring water shoes and some snacks for energy source! YOU WILL NEED IT. Would do with a older child but I’m not sure if a little kid would be up for the challenge. (Maybe in double kayak but not a single). My husband and I were happy we did it but very much sore the next day. Thanks again captain yak!!This was such a fun experience. Captain Yak was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. We saw dolphins, welks, conchs, and crabs. Captain Yak was very patient with two 10 year old rambunctious boys who had lots of questions and wanted to see EVERYTHING!

Highly recommended, this adventure was one of the highlights of our vacation!Great tour of the preserve for all ages- we had 11 people in our party, mostly teenagers, who all had a terrific time, paddling, learning about the wildlife from the knowledgeable Capt Yak, and getting some sun too. We highly recommend this trip. We highly recommend!
