Good food, important historical sights, fantastic location and two continents. Visit the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, the Grand Bazaar, the location of the Roman Hippodrome, and Roman Cistern and Roman Aqueduct. Fabulous restaurants await in the old city and on the Asian side of Istanbul. Dine on seafood in Eminonu outdoors and enjoy strolling musicians and good company. Visit the Spice Market and surrounding neighborhoods that specialize in various things ( I enjoyed looking through the hardware and kitchen shops.). The Tramvay ( street car or light rail) goes through the old part of the city to many places that you want to see. It’s inexpensive, convenient and quite modern. The Archaeological Museum is well worth a visit. The Chora Museum is housed in an old Byzantine church with paintings abd mosaics. Topcapi palace museum is amazing and has a restaurant with an incredible view. Take a boat ride up the Bosphorus to the Black Sea and enjoy a day away from the city. Ride a ferry boat to the Asian side of the Bosphorus to shops and restaurants like Ciya Sofrasi a restaurant featuring dishes from other parts of Turkiye. The menu changes and we visited twice in a week and enjoyed differing food each time. It is possible to take Ina Football ( Soccer) match if you dare. Turkish fans are as fanatical as any Football fans in the world. We reached out to Semih and he arranged for a full day tour in Istanbul with our guide Gul. We reached out to Semih and he arranged for a full day tour in Istanbul with our guide Gul. Gul was very informative (she is an Archeology major) and managed to cover a lot of Istanbul to-do lists that we had in those 7 hours. She was very friendly and helpful throughout. We covered all the sight seeing in the old city like Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia and the spice market. She showed us the best locations for photos (she takes great pictures too) and also took us to a great shop for Turkish delights. Over the course of the tour, we felt that we were seeing Istanbul with a friend, rather than a guide. She took us to all the locations that we were interested in or had looked up on the internet and she was so energetic throughout the entire 7 hours! We even enjoyed some great local Turkish food (we are vegetarians and we werent disappointed) and of course a nice cup of Turkish coffee! I would strongly recommend taking a private tour with them. At the end, we made a lot of memories in a day, enjoyed to the fullest and left Istanbul as a happy couple. We didn’t have much time in Istanbul so we decided to get a private tour. Semih was a wonderful guide. He was great company and very knowledgeable about his city and it’s history. A day with Semih made our short trip immensely enjoyable.
