Stop At: Indian Canyons, 38500 S Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, Greater Palm Springs, CA 92264-9332
Climb aboard a Big Red Jeeps for a visit to the ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, where stunning rock formations and the contrasting greens of magnificent fan palms and more than 150 species of plants beckon travelers to these lush palm oases.
On your adventure, a professional guide will educate and entertain you with stories about the history, culture, lifestyle, and legends of the Cahuilla people. Enjoy a guided 1-mile hike on a tranquil trail along the banks of Andreas Creek as your guide describes the ceremonies and legends of the Cahuilla people and explains how they used the desert’s plants for survival. Then view one of the largest natural palm oases in North America from the rim of Palm Canyon and enjoy a short walk to a hidden water cave where the water flows most of the year.

I was expecting 4-wheeling through the desert. What I got was a tour and education of the area, while in a Jeep. Rick was AMAZING and knew everything about the area. Very educational! The tour was scheduled for three hours and took that long. You cover maybe a few miles of Jeep travel. I would rather more time be spent to the geology of the area as opposed to being educated on the indian tribe that lived there. This tour is awesome! Our guide, Travis, was so knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the area along the way and about the painted canyons. He knew a lot about the plants and rocks too. We hiked into some slot canyons which were very cool! Definitely recommend this jeep tour!!

Our guide for the Painted Canyons tour was Teri Christensen, who was a pleasure to tour and hike with on our trip. She was courteous, polite and a professional the entire time. Her guided tour of the lush growing farms along with her knowledge of the history of the entire region was incredible! From the fig trees and how they are harvested, to the story of the last cowboy gun fight in the wild wild west, she could speak to all! The hiking in the canyons was beautiful, and it was fun getting her insight on the best way to do it! Hope you have a great time on your Red Jeep Tour, its worth it!
