Grandson and grandparents made this excursion together. The emails and text messages we received before the trip changed the procedures we were to follow. The changes were acceptable to us and we were able to follow the revised agenda. The new agenda included meeting a vey knowledgeable tour guide who spoke English very well. The gathering place was in front of the Hard Rock Restaurant. There were several pan handlers there also who were distracting and rude at times. Our seats on the return trip were against the water closet bulkhead which was emitting unpleasant odors. The tour guide did an excellent job of keeping us the shade while delivering her talk. She added many details to the history of Florence that we would have missed on a self guided tour. At the end of the tour we found ourselves wishing that the guide could have stayed with us for a longer time. We were also scheduled for a salamis tasting activity which we chose to skip because it required retracing our steps back to near the Hard Rock Restaurant. It was very hot and humid that day. We had to use Google Maps to find our way back to the train station. It was Sunday so there were no places to set and rest so we stood until the late departure of our train. Overall we enjoyed being immersed in the cultural nuances of Florence even for a short time.

I have booked many tours with Viator and have always been very pleased. This is the first time, I've experienced the tour from hell. The train parts were perfect. We caught the Hop on Hop off bus and started our journey. Our plan was to visit 8 out of the total places. Our first stop was at the Statue of Michal Angelo. We stayed there 1 hour and was planning on catching the next bus to see the rest of the stops. The next bus that came was full so we waited about an hour for the next bus to come. Which was okay. The next bus, never stopped. She pulled up behind another bus and kept going. It was about 10 people waiting at the stop. We all had to find alternative ways to get to our final designations. We were ONLY able to see ONE stop and we had to WALK back to the train station. The reason why we catch the 2 hour train ride to Florence was to see the sites at the Hop on Hop off site. Ridiculous!

Would have given it 5 stars if there was an option to have the train ride include a fully guided tour rather than the on/off bus. Florence is very small that you can walk it yourself. Also, if there was an option to leave from Florence back to Venice earlier rather than the last train out around 930PM, that would have been a plus. The public buses in Venice stop at midnight.

First and foremost, I want to give Viator 5 stars for all they did to help with our trip. Three stars is only because of the Hop on/Hop off Services.

We were on our honeymoon and planned a day in Florence. Their was an issue with the train however, Viator was very accommodating and fixed the problem. When we arrived it was raining. Because of this the Hop on/Hop Off Buses the representative said they oversold and would not help us were only running one bus per line. We ended up having to pay for public transportation.

This is not Viator's fault but it was so frustrating to have to deal with something that you paid for with no help from the vendor.

Wonderful trip, but quite long as you were unable to change your return train, which did not get back to Venice until almost midnight!!

Great trip to Florence! Florence has many more things than it is possible to see in one day, so a second day would have been best.

You can probably figure out train pricing on your own. It was not even easy to find the hop on hop off bus after. I was not the only one with that problem.

A must. Better than the drive by far and the energy saved is much needed to tour Florence!

Florence was amazing in the structures and the history. The Off/On Bus tour was great and we enjoyed riding on the top open air seats and seeing the sites. The radio given to explain the tour as you are on the bus is easy to work and listen to as you pass the individual sites while on the bus. The map for the stops was clear and we found each stop and site we wanted to see. The stop on top of the mountain over looking Florence was amazing and seeing where we had been visiting while in the city. The only negative was finding the beginning of the On/Off bus tour once exiting the train. Once again no map and confusing wording on the landmarks to find for the starting point. McDonalds was given as the meeting place, but when you exit the train there are three McDonalds, one in the train station, and two outside one with a large bus stop across the street. The train ride and getting to the Venice Station was not a problem. This is a must trip if you have the time or even want a separate vacation. I wanted to go to Pisa while in Florence, but maybe next time.

I was very disappointed with the Alba travel process for my independent trip to Florence because of the following reasons:
1 The Viator tour information stated that we needed to go to Casa Italo located in the Venice Santa Lucia Rail station, but the attendant there did not know why we were there and could not advise us on what to do next. we were not familiar with the Italian train process but had to eventually figure it out.

2 Once in Florence, the Alba travel directions to getting to the hop-on-hop-off bus was wrong and we had to chase down the bus in order to get on. We wasted at least 45 mins of valuable time crossing the street and walking up and down by McDonalds looking for the Bus. We also spent money calling the Alba travel office 2 times thinking that an Alba travel assistant was meeting us in Florence to point us in the right direction. Of course, they told us that no one was meeting us and to follow the directions.

This was an extremely disappointing start and I will not book any additional trips with this travel agency.
