Itinerary

Stop At: Imbros Gorge, close to Chora Sfakia Start in Impros or Komitades, Crete Greece

Hiking in the countryside is a great thing to do on Crete, an island full of beautiful, inviting gorges with stunning views. Samaria is one that many people visit, but it’s a strenuous trek. Imbros, though, is a gorge for everyone, a rocky but easy 5-mile (8-km) walk.

After your hotel pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned shuttle van, travel to Imbros Gorge with your guide. Begin your walk and take in the beauty of the limestone gorge. Pass the lovely villages of Vrisses, Askifou and Imbros.

In the village of Komitades, the terminus for the hike, enjoy some free time to explore the village and eat a nice, leisurely Cretan lunch (not included).

Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: The Castle of Frangokastello, Frangokastello, Sfakia, Crete 73011 Greece

After lunch, drive to Frangokastello, an imposing castle built by the Venetians in the 14th century as a garrison to impose order on the rebellious locals. Your guide will discuss the history of the castle before you have free time to explore it. Cool off afterward with a dip in the Libyan Sea. At the end of the tour, relax on the drive back to your hotel.

Duration: 4 hours

Extremely interesting with some great highlights along the way, especially at narrow parts of the gorge. I went solo and it worked well as you enter as an individual or with your friend/ family group and go at your own pace. Friendly tour guide. Great views on the way there & back too, as a bonus.

This was a day trip although the actual hike through the Gorge was 2-3 hours, as it was a long drive from the pick up and drop off points. There were two guides who gave information during the drive, but the hike was independent so everyone could go at their own pace. The scenery was fantast...

7 KM didn't sound far, but when walking on soooo many rocks, it is! Good thing that we had over 2 hours to do this! I didn't know we were going to stop by the beach for over an hour or else I would have brought my bathing suit too. Other than that, I definitely would do this again!

En härlig vandring i Imbros ravinen ( bra skor ett måste ) och möts av ljuvlig utsikt över havet när man kommer till slutet

The tour was late starting. When the tour set off it rained heavily. We took the bus to a cafe close to the gorge and were offered a cheese pancake with honey. The organizer announced the gorge walk would not happen but not to worry because there was a plan b. Plan b was a trip to a ruined cas...
