Hoi An Old Town Food Tour by Night

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Hội An Post Office, 06 Trần Hưng Đạo, Sơn Phong, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam

We will meet our guide there.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Hoi An Ancient Town, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam

First up – a local bakery that has been making the tastiest banh mi in town for over 20 years. They use the freshest local ingredients and are famous for their banh mi, a scrumptious sandwich that will fire up your taste buds and get them ready for the flavours ahead!

From one local fave to another, next we’ll join locals at a small eatery, taking a seat on the ubiquitous small plastic chairs and sampling tasty BBQ pork rolled with rice paper and fresh herbs. Served with typical soya dipping sauce, this dish is one of the highlights of the local food scene and an absolute must-devour.

Our food tour of Hoi An continues into the atmospheric heart of the city as we head straight for the central market. What awaits us there are hundreds of street hawkers and food stalls selling a staggering array of local produce, including fresh noodles, sweet jelly, seasonal fruits, and live seafood. Your knowledgeable local guide will walk you through the colourful array of ingredients, filling you in on the most popular dishes in Hoi An and the significance of these foods to the traditional culture of central Vietnam.

From here, we’ll dig even deeper into the local food scene, passing through a maze of tiny alleys to emerge at one of our fave (secret) restaurants in Hoi An, where we’ll sample two of Hoi An’s specialties: deep fried wonton and white rose dumplings.

Believe it or not, there’s more food to come! Our Hoi An food tour continues to a street vendor where a plate of chicken rice awaits. Be sure to save space, though, as we still have yet another treat in store for dessert.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Chùa Cầu, 186 Trần Phú, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam

We’ll finish our Hoi An food adventure at a local café near the iconic Japanese covered bridge, which is the perfect spot to conclude our culinary escapades. Top off the tour with a Vietnamese coffee or beer, take in the gentle pace of our beloved Hoi An, and reflect on your fave dishes of the evening (if you can pick!).

Duration: 30 minutes

My partner & myself had such an amazing time on this food tour all thanks to Luong!! We got to visit the old city which was a special experience and we had the opportunity to try so many different foods that we wouldn’t have tried otherwise. Every single place that we went to, we were greeted by friendly faces and our tour guide Luong was beyond helpful, friendly and so knowledgeable. She made the tour so much fun and provided us with interesting information. We definitely recommend doing this tour if you are in Hoi An. Plenty of food, so we left feeling extremely full and very pleased! :)

We made a streetfood-Tour in Hoi An and it was really nice. The guide knew a lot about the food and his English was very good as well. We were only four people which made it even a better experience. The price we paid was more than fair!

This was a great experience in Hoi An. The food was delicious, it was a fun way to see different parts of the city, and Bong was a wonderful guide. What was especially cool was that the tour brought us to places with Vietnamese food that I hadn't ever had before, even in other parts of the country.

The tour did bring you to places off the beaten track, like a footpath or a indoor market which was nice to see. However the food was bland, and when finished I had to go to get supper myself as still hungry. although service was quick, I found the pace of the tour quiet slow and was wondering what was the delay. I don’t think I’d recommend this as the meals I found myself around hoi an were much better quality and value. Also the price of this evening food tour was very expensive for what you actually got. The guide was very polite and friendly

Our guide, Nam, took us to 5 different locations. Each place was very local and authentic food. It was great being taken to these places as we could then return to these spots throughout the rest of our trip!! I would recommend to everyone!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Each of the 5 venues we were taken to gave us excellent food, and all were the kind of venue that we, (and most typical tourists) would have walked on by in favour of larger venues. Our guide Nam was engaging and made the tour informative and fun.

We are really enjoyed the old town food tour. Kim, our guide was fantastic, a local girl who knows the area and speaks incredible English. She went out of her way to make the group feel comfortable and maximise the experience. We tried many different foods and visited shops I would never have known existed. I particularly liked the savoury doughnuts and the drinks on the rooftop bar, which in order to access you needed to walk through a silk shop and access some hidden stairs. I’m glad we did this tour. I will definitely re visit some of these places again. Thanks Kim!

We did the food tour with Luong on the 4th. This was one of the best food tours I have been on. Not only did we get to taste the best of Hoi An, but our guide "Luong" was very informative and able to answer any question we had.

We did the food tour with Luong on the 4th. We've done a few Urban Adventure food tours in different places - this was one of the best thanks to Luong. She was very dilligent about food allergies and gave us lots of extra information, explaining how to eat the meals and chatting to us the entire tour and making sure everyone was looked after, getting plenty to eat. These tours enable you to eat at places you won't find on your own and may not have been confident trying. We've been back to a few of the places on our own afterwards for some more great meals. We had a great group of people for the tour, which also helped make it a fun and relaxed evening. I highly recommend the tour. Thanks Luong!!!

This is a really great way to see hidden gems in Hoi An that you’d otherwise miss, learn more about the local food and spend a great evening with new friends. Our guide “Lu” was a delightful and knowledgeable host. She knew all the fabulous stalls and alleys to eat that we’d have otherwise walked by. If anything wasn’t to your taste then there was soon something else to try. We were all stuffed full by the end. This place is a fun way to spend an evening.

This walking street food tour was excellent. Lu, our guide, was very informative and knowledgeable. She was friendly and engaging. We enjoyed an excellent selection of local cuisine. Lu was very conscientious about dietary requirements and allergies, ensuring strict standards around such issues. The ancient town requires overseas tourists to obtain a visitor pass, these need to be purchased separately from counters within the ancient town for approx $6 US. However, if you are unsure or forget, Lu will assist. You will need this pass anyway to access the ancient town whilst in Hoi An.... however it doesn't seem to be heavily policed at all (we were never asked to produce the pass and didn't see anyone asking for them). This tour was 2 and a half hours, with an easy meeting point at the post office. It was a wonderful way to try the local food and take in the beautiful sights in the ancient town. A must do!! Thank you Lu, it was amazing.

I really enjoyed the food tour with Luong. She was a very knowledgeable friendly guide encouraging us to ask questions about Hoi An and get her opinion on many things! Not only was the food tour delicious but she also recommended the best tailors for us to go to (Yaly- a MUST if you’re here for a couple of days!) A word of warning: my husband and I are recent vegans & even though Luong was very good to provide us with many veggie options that were delicious, it’s good to be a little flexible if possible. For example, you can eat the chicken rice with no Chicken but the rice is still cooked in chicken broth! And we did have a little shrimp, fish sauce and some cheese (although these could be avoided if needed!) It was great that Luong was so accommodating & still well worth doing even if you do have veggie requirements as you can work around these. The veggie Banh mi (baguette) was seriously delicious and you could have this without the cheese if needed! We didn’t feel we were missing out on any flavour.

The best tour guide! Lu’s knowledge of Hoi An was remarkable and it was made very easy to converse with her because of her wonderful English. We loved all the stops, the food and the people we stopped at were authentic and very happy to chat with us. We got a true appreciation of the town and it’s people from Lu. Our highlight was the black sesame soup and meeting the beautiful old couple who started the business over 70 years ago.

Would recommend doing this tour in Hoi An. Our guide Lu, met us at the post office at the top of the old town and took us to 5 different places to try local food, including: - pork skewers - Banh Mi (from the original Banh Mi Phong shop) - white rose dumplings and wontons - Com Ga rice - Black Sesame Soup which is made by a lovely old couple, grandpa was 104! Great tour and a great insight into the local foods and good places to go. Lu was very knowledgeable and even answered questions about Vietnam etc, beyond the remit of a food tour. Thank you!

Mr Nam PHAM was our guide for this food tour. We made our way through the old town, meandering alley ways attending various restaurants. The alley ways were interesting, seeing where the locals lived and dined. The food... usually two small dishes per stop. Interesting as it was local specialties. Nam explained the background of the food and showed us a Utube video on how something was made. All the dishes were delicious. Accommodation was made for likes and dislikes of the group. Getting to the locations was as good as the food. walking was at a relaxed pace. We finished the night with a drink and dessert. Mr Pham was very personable and his English superb. We had enough to eat and had our following night's dinner location sorted. We enjoyed further time on our own exploring the alleys. I recommend this tour and Mr Pham.

Lu was an amazing guide who took us to a number of local vendors who we would never have experienced on our own. The food was delicious and Lu's English was among the best I've experienced in Vietnam. Her story telling, knowledge and passion of the local people and history all added to the experience. Would highly recommend.
