Our family with two teenagers thoroughly enjoyed our cycyling half day tour with Sage-san. We cycled in the hot weather but didn’t mind it as it was really interesting! We had come from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo to relax in Ito. The cycle tour took us through Sakura Park, quiet villages, rice fields, secluded temple and amazing scenery! Sage-san was most informative and we gained insights into the local area and culture. He also took videos and photos for us along the way. Many thanks to Sage-san and we would definitely recommend to all visitors to Ito.My friends and I did the "Course A" half-day downhill bike tour. My friends and I did the "Course A" half-day downhill bike tour. Seiji-san was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who made the tour quite enjoyable. For a small extra fee (less than $5 per person), he drove us from the tour office (near our hotel) in Ito to the location of the beginning of the tour, Mt. Omuro (this saved us from having to take a bus). Our tour started with our group riding the chairlift to the top of Mt. Omuro and spending 45 minutes at the top while Seiji-san prepared our bikes. After that, the tour consisted of several short legs where Seiji-san would show us a map and photos of where to ride next and he would follow in his car. At each meeting spot, he would talk about the history/significance of the location and give us time to walk around a bit. He also took several videos of us riding - a fun souvenir! The biking was all downhill except for a few short stretches of slight uphill inclines. You need to be in reasonable shape for this but by no means a super sporty type. Some of the downhill riding was fairly steep, so you need to keep your brakes engaged and be careful not to go too fast. I was also impressed that Seiji-san was excellent about communicating during the planning stages. He answered every email in a timely manner and made sure we were connected on WhatsApp before I left the U.S. so that we had a means of communication once I was in Japan. My friend and I were expecting to bike for the entire time, but the tour ended up being so much more. My friend and I were expecting to bike for the entire time, but the tour ended up being so much more. Seiji-san was an amazing tour guide. He drives you up to Mt. Omuro first for a chairlift to the top where you can see the coast and, if you're lucky like we were, Mt. Fuji! He has different locations mapped out for you with clear instructions as to how to get from stop to stop. You get to see the Jogasaki coast with a waterfall and suspension bridge and an amazing, ethereal shrine, Biking down the mountain is one of the highlights of the trip. It can be a bit scary because of how steep the path is, but rest assured, the scenery all around you is great. As long as you follow Seiji-san's instructions, you'll be safe. We were only going to spend one day in Izu and with this tour, we felt very satisfied that we had seen the best of the peninsula around the Ito region. Seiji-san is even willing to drive you to your hotel for a small fee after the tour is over! I can't recommend this experience enough. My husband and i really enjoyed our cycling tour with Sage san , the route was well planed and mostly down hill while cycling . My friends and I did the half day downhill cycling tour with Seiji as our guide. The weather was really good in December and we were able to see amazing sights around the area. The tour brought us to Mount Omuro, Jogasaki Coast, various sites in between and an onsen with a gorgeous view of the ocean at the end. The sights we encountered while cycling were breathtaking, and Seiji was able to take some videos of us while we were cycling. He was also very knowledgeable of the area and the history behind it. A lot of emphasis was placed on safety and Seiji always made sure we knew the route between each of the checkpoints before moving off. The condition of the bicycles and the helmets were in very good condition and easy to ride, the sights to be seen around the area are amazing, and the Seiji was a very friendly guide. I would definitely recommend everyone to join the tour.Sage, who owns and runs the tour, is a kind and gentle man who speaks good English and who clearly has great knowledge and passion for the beauty and natural history of the Izu area. Sage, who owns and runs the tour, is a kind and gentle man who speaks good English and who clearly has great knowledge and passion for the beauty and natural history of the Izu area. There are several types of tours to choose from but as groups are small likely much opportunity for customisation. Our tour combined a chairlift ride up to the top of Mt Omuro with a flat 1km around the rim of this extinct volcano. Clear views of Mt Fuji. Then downhill cycling tour to the seaside with a number of interesting nature and religious stops on the way. Then an easy hike along a river and then the sea, finished off by an authentic and traditional onsen visit. We were joined on our tour by a Japanese man who seemed to find the trip as interesting and stimulating as us... In other words not just a tour laid on for the foreign tourists. One slight downside. Bicycle on the small side for 6' Aussie and caliper brakes worked ok but not great. Slightly larger bike with disc brakes would have felt safer. A unique tour that Sage has carefully and beautifully brought together several experiences including a chairlift ride, easy hikes and easy cycling to get a great taste of the area!
