Knowledgeable and friendly guide, described the history of the camp vividly. Watch out for the cold weather, even in late April.

Definitely should book this tour with Alun if you’re in Munich. Seeing the camp first hand was obviously a little overwhelming but Alun was extremely respectful and informative. He did a great job of explaining all the sections of the camp, the history, and gave us some time to walk around on our own. Group was small which was a bonus. He got us to and from Dachau with no issues. I wouldn’t book this with anyone else. If you’re in Munich you should make it a point to experience Dachau.

Take this tour. Alun could not make this experience any easier. From transportation to tidbits along the way and, of course, all things Dachau, he is absolutely the one to help you attempt to understand the gravity of the camp. His context is most helpful and allows space for you to “feel” the tour. We are very happy we took this tour as a family. We risk repeating that which we do not learn from.

Best Tour Operator - no need to look elsewhere ! Alun has been taking visitors here for about 18 years. As an experienced guide he is tenacious in providing his guests with a customized experience. Knowledgeable and conscientious he shares the story and history with his participants. We saw many other guides during our tour and have to say Alun thinks on his feet to be sure we avoided the big slow groups. The photos were taken when it was very busy. However we were provided with a personalized visit. The largest group he takes is 15 so book soon. Meeting in an easy to find space in Marienplatz Alun whisked us through the train and bus to get us where we needed to be. He made this once in a lifetime visit seamless so we could focus on the subject matter. With our highest recommendation!

Our tour was very good! I read the reviews about Alan’s tours and thought his tour best met our needs so I reached out to him directly about making room for us since he was sold out on the dates that we were available. He was so kind and opened up a booking date for my husband and I. We ended up being the only ones that day, so we basically had a private tour and he was very knowledgeable about the history, the site and just everything about such a difficult but important part of our history. I would highly recommend Alun for your historical touring in and around Munich!

This is a historical site that provides a real and very present setting of one of the most horrendous events in history so a tough one but necessary to experience. Alun was the perfect balance when presenting facts, stories of reality, and historical references. Alun is also well versed in “how” to get there and back and experience the site. Logistics can be challenge and when your overwhelmed with emotions not always a good combination. We took our 16 year old with us and our group walked away as friends. The size of our group (8 guests, 1 guide). More would not have provided the same experience. I can’t imagine visiting for the first time without a guide to inform and provide guidance to navigate.

Alan is a great guide. He is knowledgeable, interesting and compassionate about this heavy and devastating material.

This tour was brilliant. Easy pick up and drop off. Allan is amazing; his knowledge is unreal. The small group size is a massive bonus; no getting lost and no missing out on information. Allan answers all question and welcomes debate regarding the human condition. Allan has the tour really well planned out in terms of time. He gives you so much information that you can match up that which you've seen and heard to the photos and artefacts within the museum. For such a heavy subject this amount of time is probably just right. As much as you think you want to spend the entire day, this just gives you a reason to visit again.

Dachau is a chilling and sobering place so it helped immensely to have an experienced and knowledgeable guide to navigate the site. Alum made the entire experience effortless from meeting us in central Munich to leading us on the train and bus to Dachau (with prearranged tickets). His insight while at Dachau was thought provoking. The small group format was very efficient. He even allowed us free time at the site before leading us back to Munich. Excellent!

I highly recommend this tour to anyone that wants to experience Dachau without having to worry about the logistics of getting there. On top of that Alun is an incredible guide who has deep knowledge of a difficult topic.

We had a great tour with Allan who provided an excellent introduction to what brought about the genesis of the labour camp concept in 1923 and just the right dosage of guide provided information and self discovery of the camp site.

Alan our tour guide was wonderful. A small group tour where there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions and the right amount of time to explore on your own. A five hour tour from Munich is the correct time. I would highly recommend a guided tour, you would so much of the the little things and the context if you went by yourself

We normally don’t go for organised trips preferring to do it ourselves. This was excellent. Alun was very personable and equally knowledgable. Would highly recommend.

I was visiting Munich solo and decided to take a guided tour on the side to Dachau. Alun reached out a few days prior to discuss logistics as there were some strikes impacting the train schedule beyond his control. He was so proactive, communicative, and accommodating. He was very easy to find at the meeting place. Despite the strikes, the travel to and from the site was extremely smooth and quick. He answered any and all questions- related to the tour or other sites in Munich! Most importantly, he was very informative and respectful of the history that occurred at Dachau. He knew every answer to every question that was asked, but showed the utmost respect. I really appreciated that he gave us some time to walk around on our own and give the group some space when appropriate. It was the perfect balance of group activity and experiencing it on your own.
