Mitad del Mundo is very worth visiting but we weren't happy with this trip. First of all the trip was advertised as stopping at Pululahua for crater views, but we were told by our guide that they don't do it on week days. Secondly, we only had 1.5 hrs to visit the place where the trip was advertised at 3 hrs at the monument. You need 3 hrs there! We definitely felt misinformed and would not have picked this tour if we knew the real details.
There was some miscommunication with the initial pick up point. We were at the corner of Venezuela and Espejo Street and noticed that there was some kind of protest and that street was closed to traffic. we waited ten minutes past the pick up time and never saw anyone looking for us. We called the tour phone number and they said that they waited for us and left for the next pick up point. The person who answered the phone said that we should have been inside some souvenir store, i said that that was not in the instructions. Long story short, they paid for our taxi to get to the next pick up location and we really enjoyed the trip, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and was fluent in bot English and Spanish.
This tour was billed as a seven hour tour.... which indeed it was..... unfortunately three hours was spent in Quito traffic!!! It included a visit to the volcano, which would have been interesting had we been able to see it. The tour started two hours too late... you should know the local weather conditions and adjust the tour accordingly.....!!!At this time of the year the weather is clear in the morning and the clouds and mist arrive by midday.... the tour effectively started at midday..... useless!!... The guide Andrea was very good and Mitad del Mondo interesting. What could have been an excellent tour was ruined by inability to factor in local weather conditions!!!!
Loved the experience on the tour.
It was a Spanish tour with a bit of English thrown in. At the beginning she spoke a lot of Spanish. For us it was her name and the driver.
Then it was off in Spanish for an extended period. The last part of the tour took us through the Old Town but no commentary was given. By the time we got back to our original starting point it was dark. This tour started at noon. I think they should start earlier.
This is a must do tour in Quito. The price is good and the museum is excellent and the Mitad del Mundo is an excellent site with lots of things to see and do. The tour was well organised and I recommend it unreservedly.
The most terrible tour ever. Felt like they were selling me snake oil
The Mitad del Mundo Tour was best at the real GPS identified location as you get to learn a lot there. I wished we spent more time there instead. There were only two experiments you can do there however.
The fake older location at the equator line was great for taking pictures. However the museums around this place were simple and not very educational.
I certainly recommend this tour. You get to see so many various sites within the one-day trip, and it will take a number of hours, due to the traffic congestion in Quito. Be patient, it is definitely worth it. You are only allotted a certain amount of time at each stop, so keep that in mind.
Wonderful and educational tour. We had plenty of time to browse, shop and take in the beautiful scenery.
