Our guide, Luis was friendly and informative. I believe he really has a passion for the mountains I hike and climb in Washington State. Experiencing a different environment and landscape was awesome. Highly recommend
Enjoy the unbelievable views of Cotopaxi by hiking and cycling. Requires some physics! This tour is good and guides are very friendly and professional. Warm recommendation!
Challenging/Doable. Beginner/1st time hiker. Be prepared for cold/wind. You'll need all gear recommended, especially sunglasses to protect eyes from dirt, layers, and gloves. Great guides. Meals provided were good also.
Was a great day trip to an amazing destination. Good food for breakfast and lunch. Gerardo was an excellent guide and took care of the whole group. He was very encouraging on the hike and told us a lot of great information about Cotopaxi and the local culture. Be sure to dress warmly! It is very cold - I usually don't bring gloves or a hat to this type of thing but I wish I had them at Cotopaxi! Great day anyway though - would definitely do again.
Had a lot of fun on this tour. It is very strenuous, but WORTH IT!!!
This was the highlight of my time in the Quito area. The tour guides Marco and Oscar were fantastic.
Great tour! Our guides were quite knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of altitude change.
Excellent day! Service was exceptional. Loved the hike. The bike was kind of wash board. I would recommend the excursion especially to see the Refugio. Meals- lunch and breakfast were great. Loved our group of 19.
Great tour! Recommend taking the day to hike Cotopaxi but only select the bike if you are confident. Trail is rugged.
Such an amazing trip! We had rainy cold and windy weather and I still had an incredible time! Would highly recommend this trip to those who are physically active because the hike can be strenuous but so much fun.
This was amazing day trip in late June. our tour guide Lois was very informative and helpful. I would highly recommend it to all. Just be prepared for the cold.
Nice tour from Quito. Scenery is beautiful along the way. Dress properly as the closer you get to the mountain, the colder it gets. I found the hike challenging and didn't go all the way but still a great tour! Breakfast and lunch was so-so but that could be because I am vegan and there wasn't much for my palate. Vegetarian soup was welcomed but it wasn't warm enough. I usually don't do these tours for the food so I still give the tour 5 stars because of the great tour guide and the actual qualify of the tour.
This was an amazing tour. Our guide Omar showed us lots of volcanoes and presented lots of interesting information on the drive to Cotopaxi. The hike itself was really challenging. This is not easy. The visibility was close to zero and it was snowing on us as we climbed to the refuge. I appreciated the strenuous physical challenge, but it is not for everybody. I then rode my bike down the mountain to a lagoon. The unfavorable weather did not spoil it at all for me! I loved the view and the cool weather. It was a super experience and our guide Omar helped everyone along the way. Highly recommended!
Very fun and unique experience with great guide Omar and driver. Administrative details of booking, credit card payment, email with trip details was straightforward and punctual. Staff were there ahead and time and even waited for stragglers to show up. Our guide, Omar, was funny, informative, helped those who needed help but did not hover around all the time. The day we went was very snowy and we had to hike the last bit up to the refugio at close to 16K feet. Omar did a great job to make sure everyone made it up. The bike ride down was in the rain, so not perfect, but still an experience. Stopped for breakfast and lunch at the same place close to Cotopaxi. Nice restaurant and very good food both times. All in all, a very good trip with great staff. Highly recommend if you are the outdoors type and want to do something unique.
Omar was a great tour guide and really knew a lot about the Cotopaxi volcano. He also knew a lot about Ecuador and the culture/history, a very entertaining guide. I wish we could have done more hiking and biking, but I know there were time constraints and warnings of the volcano being highly active. I would love to go back and hike to the summit when we are able to in the future. The hike was the most challenging hike I have done, going up to 15,100 feet which is the highest I've been. Omar was helpful getting us all up there, and helping the others back to the van if they could not make the hike. You stop at a refuge which is in the safe zone of the volcano. One thing that could have been better is less cloud coverage so we could actually see the summit and peak.
Lugar incrível. A subida não é muito puxada, pesa um pouco a altura mas dá para fazer tranquilo. Não esqueça de levar seu passaporte para carimbar no abrigo. A descida de bike foi muito legal, estava nevando e chovendo. Aventura pura!
Absolutely amazing! The best day-trip for the price I had during my two weeks in Quito. A legit hike up a snow-covered volcano and a speedy mountain bike down. Two local, home cooked meals included with transportation. I'd do it again!
Luis was fantastic! Lots of information on the ecology, geology, and local lore of the area. Food at the little place tha twe had breakfast and lunch, was very good more than we expected. Wish that little way station had more than just food perhaps Ecuadorian chocolate.
The hike and bike was very energetic. Our guide was very conscientious of how many participants were on the bus, before we would depart from every destination. My only complaint was the bike I selected had a seat that moved around, as we went down the hill. One of the participants tried to readjust the seat, and it finally came off. He got off of his bike and took my bike. He stood up all the way down the hill with no seat. If it wasn't for him, I really would have had a really rough ride. Food served at breakfast and lunch was very sufficient and tasty. Overall, I enjoyed the hike
We went on a clear day and the climb/ views were stunning. The guide Omar is lively and fun. The breakfast and lunch was better than expected. Would recommend.
Exhilarating! I highly recommend this tour for the active and fit travelers seeking a unique Ecuadorian experience. Omar, the tour guide, gave a an interesting and humorous narrative on Ecuadors culture, history and natural resources. He also was a superb trail guide, providing excellent instructions on the best practices for climbing and descending Cotopaxi volcano and operating the mountain bikes. Although we were twice the average age of the other tour participants, we were able to complete both the hike and the bike trek with encouragement from Omar. A tasty breakfast and lunch were included. We returned to Quito at 4:30 p.m.
Beautiful. The bikes they use have questionable maintenance.
Marco was great!
excellent guide with great scenery.
Very nice views and surrounding nature. Easy bike ride downwards. Good value for the money.
