Grab forty winks on the 5-hour journey to Cairo after your Egyptologist guide collects you from your Hurghada hotel at 2:30am – be sure to request a breakfast box from reception. You'll arrive in Cairo around 7:30am and head straight to Giza, where you'll explore some of the wonders of the world, including the pyramids of Khufu, Khaufre, and Menkaure, the Sphinx, and the Valley Temple, built around the same time as the Sphinx.
After lunch at a local restaurant (vegetarian options are available), it's on to the wonderful Egyptian Museum, home to over 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian art and artefacts, the most precious collection of ancient Egyptian culture in the world. Among the 250,000 exhibits, including statues of the legendary Nefertiti, explore the room dedicated to Tutankhamen, including his death mask, treasure, gold and jewellery, which Howard Carter discovered in the 1920s. (A visit to the Royal Mummy Room is available at an extra charge.)
Finally, it's time to discover a little of Cairo proper, with a trip to the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar, with its brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, and antiques.
