Today, the Helmholtz quarter is one of Berlin’s hippest and happening areas in Berlin, yet has managed to retain more of its original character in comparison to the neighbouring Kollwitzplatz.
Come with me on a tour through the area where I grew up. Learn some of the fascinating urban history based on the story of my family and see what has changed in the building practices, housing fashions and everyday life of its inhabitants since 1900.
Of particular interest is the museum "Zimmermeister Brunzel baut ein Mietshaus", showing how such a house was actually built. If you are interested, we can incorporate a stop here into the tour.
