Our group of 4 was blessed with an excellent trip to the Dolomites from our base at Bolzano with Alex. Alex met us punctually in our hostel and gave us a good explanation of the area that we were in and was about to see. Upon seeing the temperature dropping and the condition of the road, he offered us choices of whether to continue up the slope ( where he explained may not offer no clear views of the dolomites ) or to proceed to a Christmas market. With his assurance that with snow chaining the wheels we could move on in that condition we chose to move on. He parked his car at a safe place to put on the chains while we had a coffee break. All 4 of us agreed that the trip was made much safer with his confident and cautious driving skills. We saw many cars stuck along the way, with drivers having to put on chains on their wheels at sub-zero temperature mid way along the winding road. We knew then that our driver- guide is an experienced driver in extreme conditions to know to pre-empt that the road condition would turn worse. Although we did not see the peaks that were covered by the cloudy sky and snow, we were very happy to enjoy the snowing scenes in the 2 lakes he brought us to and the 2 little towns. The lunch place which he recommended was also great. Food was good and the price was great too. Along the way, Alex offered his views about Italy’s history and social situations and we shared some exchanges of opinions about the world we live in. We learnt much from his views. He is definitely more than a tourist guide. We are all impressed with his knowledge of the dolomites, Italy as well as other parts of the world including where we come from. It was one of the best days in our 3 weeks long holiday to Italy. We highly recommend Alex’s Guiding services to the Dolomites. We were lucky to have more time experiencing both Western and Eastern Dolomites. Great tour guide and magnificent view!
