The Three Peaks are situated in the Three Peaks nature park and in 2009 they were declared UNESCO World Heritage, as were all other peaks of the Dolomites.
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo (”Three peaks of Lavaredo” or “Drei Zinnen”) are a bizarre and striking alpenstock belonging to the Sesto Dolomites, mainly characterised by its distinctive form. Due to this special shape, these three pinnacles are world-famous and are considered to be the symbol of the Dolomites. The famous north face of this alpenstock belongs to the municipal territory of Dobbiaco, whereas the southern part of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo belongs to the province of Belluno. In other words, the borderline between the two provinces passes above the Tre Cime di Lavaredo summits.
However, the famous alpenstock consists of the Cima Grande (2, 999 m) which is the pinnacle in the middle, the Cima Piccola (2, 857 m) and the Cima Ovest (west peak, 2, 973 m). The view on the north face of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo is one of the most famous alpine images and views all over the world.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo is absolutely the most beautiful hike and was the highlight of my 8 days trip to the Dolomites. I have thoroughly enjoyed Alessandro's company and his guidance while trekking the Tre Cime. I appreciated his dedication to the craft, his in depth knowledge of the history and the region. I will definitely recommend Alessandro's services to all my friends travelling to these beautiful, unique mountains.Angelo was our tour guide. Angelo was our tour guide. He picked us up promptly at our hotel in Bolzano and gave us very interesting facts about the area as we drove to the beginning of the hike. He let us set the pace and showed us interesting things as we hiked around that we may have missed had he not been there. He gave us options of how much incline we wanted. It was gorgeous area. Glad we went mid September as it was crowded but easy enough to maintain your own space and not constantly pass or be passed by others. Evidently in the summer months its very packed. We wore our trail running shoes to avoid packing both running and hiking shoes as we did a lot of each and they did really well on the terrain for us. Angelo was professional, kind, funny, and informative. Highly recommend!I rarely give a 5 star rating. Alex deserves the praise. My wife and I took the great road tour and the 3 peaks trek with Alex.
