From Bled: Black Hole Kayaking
Overview
Experience the unique adventure through an underground mine on this 8-hour adventure from Bled. Drive two hours to the abandoned mine and descend for 15 minutes into the depths of the earth on an original old mining train. Explore the abandoned mines in complete darkness, with only the illumination of headlights to light your way. Temperature in the mines is only around 10 degrees Celsius, so guest should bring warm clothes. Kayaking equipment is provided and hotel pickup and drop-off is included. Guests stay underground for about 3-4 hrs, beginning with original mining train ride, followed by walking over steep stairs follows with staying on the water for about 1, 5 hrs, while doing some kayaking. This special excursion is suitable for beginners as well as experienced kayakers.

What to expect

Depart from your Bled hotel at 5:40 am or 7:40 am for an 8-hour adventure trip with kayaking through an underground mine. Drive for about hour and a half to the site and descend for 15 minutes into the deep on an original old mining train. A short hike and a climb over some steep stairs about 95m lower and back up after is included as well. Spend four hours in the mine (about one hour on the kayak) and enjoy the mix of dynamic activities, with a bit of both hiking and paddling. Upon reaching the underground water, row in your sit-on-top kayaking through passages and galleries. Illuminate your way with glowing headlamps, the only source of light in the mine. All the dry suits, boots, life vests, helmets, and lights are provided. At the conclusion of your tour, you will be returned to your Bled hotel. The tour operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately (no refund due to weather or personal reasons).

- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- Not wheelchair accessible
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems
- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Pick-up / departure time can vary and can be anything from 5.40 AM until 8 AM, depending on the availability. All guests will be notified about exact time of departure one day before the tour.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- A minimum of 2 people per booking. A maximum of 8 people per booking
- Not recommended for participants with back problems, heart complaints or other serious medical conditions
- The tour operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately (no refund due to weather or personal reasons).
- A current valid passport or EU personal ID card is required on the day of travel (driving licence or any other means of id is not sufficient) because we will across the border couple times
- Bring warmer clothes, temperature in the mines is only around 10 degrees Celsius (long sleeves, pants & closed shoes recommended). Bring some extra clothes in your backpack for just in case.
- Maximum shoe size is EU 47.
- Minimum height is 150 cm.
- Mountain roads included for the transfer, make appropriate precautions if you have car sickness.

- No parking available at our office.

- If you are late 10 min or more, tour will go ahead without you, no refunds in this case

If you are looking for unique experiences don’t look further, you won’t get anything better than this. I enjoyed the content of the tour a lot, you will have to go on to appreciate it. Expecting a long drive before reach to the mine. Wear something warm and water proof it is lower than 6 degrees...

I am not given it five stars because the two tour guides we are with only given their jumper and water proof jacket to my boyfriend, even after I told them I was freezing too. I don’t know if they thought was my boyfriend paid for this experience, so they had to be nice to him instead of me. Or they just value men more than women. I found it very bizarre.acciopenguin

Had an amazing trip kayaking in the mines today. Our driver/tour guide for the journey there and back was lovely and gave us lots of information on the local area, stopping at different places along the way. On arrival at the mines we were given dry suits and helmets to keep us safe and dry during the kayaking trip. The kayaking was really fun. We were given the opportunity to have a row around the caves by ourselves. Lots of information given throughout the day and home by dinner time!michaelbL2955WS

So this was a tremendous trip. Our guide took us to the mine that was located in the Slovenian Alps and on the way there we tasted fresh spring water and saw gorgeous Milka like views of mountains. The mine kayak tour was really exciting. Going down with helmet and protective gear (all supplied by the tour operator) on a steep staircase, 700 metres down below. It is not for the folks with vertigo our claustrophobia. But when you are down stairs the mine halls and passages open up. While kayaking the guide explains a lot about the mining, history of Slovenia and the metals and minerals found in the mine. It was a great and really unique experience.MrsSergent

My husband and I embarked on the Black Hole Kayaking Tour today and what a day we had! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, pointing out areas of interest along the way to the mine. Once at the mine, we hopped on board the small mining train. The ride was about 10-15 mins, it’s very rickety and feels fast but it’s a lot of fun! Then we ventured down into the mine, down quite a few steps which was just a tad scary but there was a handrail all the way. Then on to the kayaks, we followed our guide around inside, listening to facts about how the mine operated and then were given time to explore the tunnels on our own. We got to go down the little drop/waterfall twice which was fun! Then back up, via some of the steps and a small hike through the mine and back onto the train. On our way home we stopped at some beautiful view points and interesting places. The team were very kind and it felt personalised and not rushed. I could not recommend it enough!
