Definetly worth the experience. Oscar and his team will give you a complete overview of Mexican culture through oaxaca’s rich food history and diversity. Most importantly, the cooking courses will allow you to choose which menu you will prepare while respecting your diet (gluten, veggie,…). When done cooking, you will enjoy your menu (which is close to a dégustation menu to be honest) on the patio with beverages included. Go for it, it’s a no-brainer.The food that we made was absolutely delicious however there were too many people in the class (12 people), which meant that unfortunately we did a lot more observing than cooking. The food that we made was absolutely delicious however there were too many people in the class (12 people), which meant that unfortunately we did a lot more observing than cooking. I would have loved to been more actively involved in making each dish but at the end of the class I felt like I didn't really know how to make anything (you do get sent the recipes though). I have done several cooking classes throughout my years of travel and this was the least involved in cooking I have been.I will start by saying that you can find the same experience in their website 20% cheaper. The problem is that it feels like he has better things to do. He rushes you though the market an the preparations. You never fully understand what you are making and he is not very tolerant when you make mistakes. The food itself was great and getting ot enjoy it with other guests was the best part of this tour. Oscar did not participate of this part, as he was on his computer on the table next to us.Oscar's class was amazing. He was so knowledgable about all the different aspects of Oaxacan cooking! We liked picking the menu and getting to participate in making the food. The pace was a little fast especially in the market with very quick explanations of so many ingredients. Oscar was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food we made was truly delicious and was eaten in friendly company. We felt like in terms of a serious cooking class it didn’t quite meet our expectations though. Overall it was a fun activity but more like communal cooking and eating.
