Fishing for Trophy Rainbows and Salmon on the world Famous Kenai River in Alaska
Overview
Inclusions
- I will provide all of the fishing gear (except for waders and fishing licenses). Waders are essential when fishing off of gravel bars!
What to expect
We will meet at Bing's Landing boat launch at a set time agreed by both parties. Everyone in the party fishing with me will need waders (preferably chest waders). Then we will take a scenic 10 to 15 minutes boat ride upriver, utilizing 18 ft. StealthCraft Power Drifter to access fishing locations, where we will drift fish for Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden. If we're fishing for salmon, we will access gravel bars on which to fish off. After fishing, I will clean and package the fish caught for easy transport to a fish processor in town!
The fish processor can then process the fish in the manner to your liking, and make arrangements to have it shipped to your home state if you desire.

Guide was surly. Boat was set up to fish out of the back, constantly entangling my fly line on the motor. Guide would take photos with his phone so that he would try to extort payment for pictures with fish caught. Avoid.

I spent many hours with Dan on the Russian River years ago and watched him catch fish where no body else was. Dan effectively taught me the art of fly fishing from the basics, to actually hooking into fish like he was. It’s all “Presentation” he would say, I finally got what he meant, and it works. I would highly recommend Dan, his decades of fishing Alaska and his patients to teach while catching fish are unmatched. You won’t be disappointed!Captain Dan put us on the fish for sure! It took a while to get the technique right, but we hooked so many fish that I am still sore over a week later. He has a patient, congenial approach. I can't imagine anyone going out with Captain Dan and feel like it wasn't a great trip. I highly recommend.

Dan was a fantastic guide. We spent two days with him flossing for sockeyes. He also arranged for a third day of Silvers for us with a trusted associate when his own schedule could not accommodate. It was our first trip to Alaska and Dan made it easy with great recommendations for everything from places to stay to where to eat, and of course - how to catch fish. Our group was three men and our 80 year old dad. Dan, made sure that dad caught the biggest fish and paid special attention to all of our needs. I can't wait to plan our next trip with D-Ray.Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our day with Dan a couple of weeks ago! He knew where the sockeye were and took us right to them. Within 3 hours we had each caught our limit! He showed us how to cast and how to bring those bad boys in! What a thrill! Dan is definitely a fish whisperer and a fine ...
