What to expect

Itinerary

Day 1: Bitter Guana Cay

Stop At: Staniel Cay, Staniel Cay, Out Islands, Bahamas
We’ll pick you up at the Staniel Cay airport or your hotel and bring you to the Staniel Cay Yacht Club where your catamaran awaits. The Staniel Cay Yacht Club has several nice restaurants and a swimming pool. Staniel Cay is a good starting point because it has several restaurants, two hotels, three grocery stores, a full-service marina, and a private airport. We can help you with your flights. Fly in the night before so we can leave early on Day 1 and go to Thunderball Grotto.
Duration: 4 hours

Stop At: Thunderball Grotto, Staniel Cay
Located just west of Staniel Cay, Thunderball Grotto is a fantastic underwater cave system that was used in the filming of two James Bond movies and is a must-see for divers and snorkelers.  It is teeming with exotic marine life and a kaleidoscope of brilliantly colored coral reefs and fish, like yellow-tail snappers, Angel fish, Sergeant Majors and the like. The grotto's mystique is heightened by the small, almost hidden entrance.  We will enter at ebb tide (low or slack tide) if you are snorkeling equipment, however at high tide, we must use diving equipment.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Pig Beach, Great Exuma
Completly optional, Pig Beach is a popular destination with great photo opportunities. Whenever a boat arrives, these pigs will swim out to you and expect you to feed them. Even though pigs can't fly, it's still possible to go swimming with pigs in the Caribbean. The original Swimming Pig Beach in the Bahamas is found on the island of Big Major Cay, affectionately called "Pig" Major Cay by some. The island is uninhabited by humans and governed solely by its pig residents. While it's not precisely clear how or when the pigs first took up residence on this island paradise, locals have settled on a few theories.
Duration: 1 hour

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight on the yacht anchored at Bitter Guana Cay a beautiful island away from the buzz of Staniel Cay.

Day 2: Pig Beach + Thunderball Grotto

Stop At: Compass Cay, Compass Cay, Out Islands, Bahamas
Compass Cay has a naturally-protected harbor that been outfitted with a beach lodge and a marina. The island also has docile nurse sharks which you can swim with if you are brave. Forge memories of a lifetime by doing something that makes the hairs on your neck rise. Jump out of your comfort zone and into the shark-infested waters around Compass Cay Marina. Do so with confidence and comfort knowing thousands of visitors before you have done it and survived to tell a great story from a great Bahamas vacation.

This is completely option. It's fun to just stand on the dock and watch them, too. Believe it or not, Compass Cay Bahamas used to be known for another thing before the Bahamas sharks arrived; its beautiful beaches!
Duration: 4 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight on the yacht anchored at Compass Cay, a spectacular island with beautiful beaches.

Day 3: Exumas Land and Sea Park (Hawksville Cay)

Stop At: Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, Great Exuma
Hawksbill Cay is a private, uninhabited and very beautiful island in the Exumas region of The Bahamas in the Caribbean. More specifically, it is at the north end of the Exuma Land and Sea Park.

At low tide, there is a magnificent soft sand bar stretching across the end of the cay. It is possible to walk from the north end across the sand bar to the east side of the island.

It is said that the beach on the banks side is amazing but across the island on the ocean side, is the most beautiful, desolate beach of the entire region.
Duration: 6 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight on the yacht anchored under the bright starry sky.. You'll see fish at night too with our underwater lights.

Day 4: Shroud Cay (Norman's Cay)

Stop At: Norman's Cay, Norman's Cay, Out Islands, Bahamas
Norman’s Cay is an abandoned former drug trafficking island that was run by Carlos Lehder, which explains its runway. You can snorkel around the smuggler’s plane wreck, which rests in just 10 ft of water on the south-west coast of the island. For nature lovers, try a barefoot walk on Twinkie Beach to find seashells and then dine at McDuff’s Restaurant to watch the sunset (cost of dinner is not included).
Duration: 6 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight on the yacht in an anchorage on Hawskbill Cay, a private, uninhabited island at the north end of the Sea Park.

Day 5: Waderick Wells Cay

Stop At: Shroud Cays, The Bahamas
From Waderick Wells Cay, you can hike to Boo Boo Hill with its blowholes or explore some of the world’s oldest stromatolite reefs. Paddleboard to a blue lagoon and set foot on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas.

We can also go to O’Brien’s Cay “aka” The Aquarium. This dive site is appropriately named, as it’s home to a thriving diversity of aquatic life which you can view in its natural habitat. O’Brien’s Cay is one of the lesser-known islets within the marine park and is home to a natural wonder known as the Aquarium. Snorkeling in this dive site really does feel like you’re inside a tropical fish tank, with kaleidoscopic shoals of fish floating past everywhere you look. Many of the Sargent Major fish will even swim right up to you! What makes this spot so unique is the wall dive where you can see schools of yellowtail snappers, parrotfish, grouper, as well as coral, purple sea fans, and sponges. Many nature lovers say this is their favorite stop.
Duration: 8 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight on the yacht anchored on Waderick Wells Cay or O'Brien's Cay aka "The Aquarium".

Day 6: Blackpoint Settlement

Stop At: Exuma Cays, The Bahamas
Blackpoint Settlement is a gem! It has a great harbor with plenty of room in the anchorage. But, the most attractive thing about the settlement is the people - friendly, outgoing, and focused on being of service to cruisers. It is a must place to visit in the Exumas. There are three terrific places to eat in Black Point—DeShamon’s, Lorraine’s and Scorpio’s. We can have a cold beer at the Emerald Sunset View and then move onto Scorpio’s or stop by Lorraine’s mom’s house to pick up our fresh-out-of-the-oven Coconut Bread and Cinnamon Bread…oh is that good!
Duration: 6 hours

Meals included:

Accommodation included: Overnight on the yacht in an anchorage on Blackpoint Cay.

Day 7: Staniel Cay, Staniel Cay, Out Islands, Bahamas

Stop At: Staniel Cay, Staniel Cay, Out Islands, Bahamas
Staniel Cay is a good ending point because it has several restaurants, two hotels, three grocery stores, a full-service marina, and a private airport. We will drop you off at the marina and can arrange to transport to your hotel or the airport.
Duration: 2 hours

What a great experience our private yacht cruise was. The Exumas are perfect for cruising. Betsy and Tom were terrific and so was the food. We did a family poll later and decided we want to go again next year.
