A must for anyone visiting the Mt. Fuji area. My guide Tada was very knowledgeable and friendly. The cave itself is huge and you get to explore it in its entirety. Time did fly by and I wish the tour lasted just a little bit longer.
After being picked up at the station, we got coverals. The advice was to wear warm coats, but I would suggest to wear a sweater and leave your coat in the car, as it can be hot if you are not used to climbing over rocks. After a beautiful walk through the forest, with nice information about the surroundings and the wildlife, the decent into the ice cave begins.
The guide leads the way through the dark cave, over patches of ice and rocks, between beatiful ice stalagmites and stalactites. With warnings and guidance, we got to a ice plain in the cave. It was an extremely cool trip for us.
This trip was the highlight of our vacation to Japan. The Aokigahara Forest was a beautiful sight to behold in the winter and the ice cave exploration was amazing. Our guide Tadasuke was the best. He speaks fluent english and explained everything to us. The tour was super personal as it was only my husband and myself. That day. We also lucked out as it was a beautiful +16C day and we also got to see Mount Fuji. We highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to truly remember Japan.
Thanks Tadasuke! You are the best.
Would highly recommend this experience for anyone! Tada was a great guide, had excellent communication and was an expert. 10/10!
We had a fantastic time exploring the ice cave and walking through the forest with our guide, Tada. He was careful to ensure that we were never in any danger despite the tricky terrain. He was patient and had many entertaining stories, as the forest was his playground.
Logistics-wise, everything went perfectly too. We were offered hotel pick up and drop off, and all gear was provided. We only needed a good jacket to keep us warm and good trekking shoes that were waterproof.
I really enjoyed this activity. The guide Tada is really very good. Even 2 of the participants have cancelled the tour and i am the only one left, he still gave me a "private personal" tour and brought me through the whole tour. Very well trained as he brought me into the cave and explaining to me the formation of the cave and the forest. Very helpful as he took photos for me using his camera inside the dark cave and forwarded me all the photos. Definitely a tour to explore and hopefully Tada will be your tour guide.
This was a good chance to visit part of Mt Fuji. The forest was beautiful and the caves were fascinating. They were something I’ve never seen before. I recommend highly.
Tada (our tour guide) was top notch. Extremely professional, perfect Japanglish, and very knowledgeable about anything and everything in the area.Such a beautiful place to live, and he shows it all to you. When I return to Japan one day I will do this again! (Side note; wear some sturdy shoes, the cave is VERY slippery and requires a bit of climbing down.)
Wow -- what a great tour! This was such a highlight of our trip, Toshi was wonderful and an excellent guide, after picking us up from our hotel we were taken to a carpark with a great view of Mt Fuji to get changed. He then brought us to the incredible Aokigahara forest where he gave us a history of the area and the forest's creation while walking us through and pointing out the peculiarities and features of the forest. Then came the decent into the ice-cave which was an experience I'll never forget, what an awesome place! All the while Toshi was making sure we were comfortable and safe whilst still being informative and congenial.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting the area, it's a unique and fantastic experience.
My son and I LOVED this tour!! It was one of our favorite activities in Japan. Tada was an awesome tour guide! He is so friendly, personable, funny, and helpful! He was born and raised in the area, so he really knows his stuff. Tada picks you up at Kawaguchiko station and then drives you to an area to change into your gear. There's a restroom there, in case you need it. Then he drives you to the forest. His enthusiasm for the Aokigahara forest is contagious. It was a beautiful day when we went, and the sun shining down through all the trees was just breathtaking! Tada takes time to give you interesting information about the forest, and there is time for photos as you walk. Then comes the cave! You climb down into this amazing lava tube. It is full of ice, in patterns I've never seen before. It's pitch black inside, except for your headlamps. Thank goodness we got helmets, gloves, and overalls! I hit my head 6 times climbing around on the rocks - but it never hurt! It's very cold in the cave, so the overalls and gloves kept us super comfortable. There is a lot of history in that cave, and Tada explains everything. He also took photos that he later shared with us. I will treasure these photos of my son and I sharing this experience. I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed this tour! It was absolutely amazing and I will never forget how much fun we had!!
Really enjoyed the trip, gorgeous forest. I didn't realize that we would literally be crawling around the ice cave I thought there would be handrails?, a very wild experience, very unique.
Our guide Tada had a lot of neat little facts about the area's history and geography as well, and was very familiar with the wildlife and what we could expect.
This was a definite highlight of our trip. Tada was our tour guide and he was awesome! He is a local who has lived in the area his whole life and loves to share the beautiful nature. First he picks you up from the station, then it's a short drive to the ice cave which is inside Aokigahara Forest. The ice cave is beautiful with lots of ice stalactites and stalagmites. There was one area where we were standing on ice that was 20 metres thick. Then when you come out of the cave, Tada takes you for a walk through the forest, it's beautiful with lots of greenery, and moss, and flowers. If you're quiet, you might be lucky enough to see a squirrel like I did! or some deer!
Can't Say Enough about this Trip! Location was Everything! we came from the Tokyo Area by ourselfs and had no issues! Keeping in Contact with our tour guide was also no issues! Tada was an Excellent Guide! he was very knowledgeable and had shown us the Beauty of the Aokigahara Forest! It was Breathe taking! Instantly fell in love with the forest and Mt. Fuji! the Cave itself was soo Beautiful! honeslty will remeber this trip for a life time! Thank you Tada for all the photos and your guidance you exceed out expectations! you forever changed our views on the forest and Can NOT Wait to visit again!
My boyfriend and I LOVED this trip! Tada is incredibly friendly and knowledgable. He shared so much information about the area. He is the best guide you can ask for! He even took photos for and of us all throughout the trip. Aokigahara Forest was beautiful, and the ice cave was surreal. We definitely recommend this trip!
