British Ben was great!! Easy to find. Tour started on time. Ben was funny and informative. Learned more about the castle than visiting just on our own. Highly recommend.

If you are debating whether or not to take this tour, just do it. The price is worth it. If I had just bought a ticket to go in myself, I wouldn't have appreciated it as much. I wish I remembered my guide's name; I just know she was blonde, and Scottish, and had a kid at home that wanted her to use a certain joke on her tours. Thanks to my guide, I didn't miss the 1 o'clock gun and I didn't miss out on a bit of free whiskey. If I had been alone, I wouldn't have known to look out for those. I also would not have found the underground portions of the old tower or the old prisons. She had some fun stories and I learned about all the things I shouldn't miss. She points out all the things as you go up to the top so that when the tour is over you can go check them out further. You get as much time as you want in the castle after the tour.

Our guide was VERY informative and had a great “wit” about him — very entertaining !! The history of the castle was magnificent and the breathtaking view of Edinburgh was spectacular.

It was our first visit to the castle. Our guide was Euan. He was enthusiastic, engaging, entertaining and his depth of knowledge is amazing. Delightful. Surely worth twice whatever he's being paid. He so completely hooked us into the history of it all, we stayed another 2 hrs to follow his self tour suggestions. Just book this. You'll not regret it.

We had a wonderful tour with English Ben. He took us on a well-curated journey on the castle’s history in Scotland’s history including its roles in ancient and contemporary Scottish life. We would definitely recommend this tour to others!

My daughter and I booked this as an introduction to our trip to Edinburgh. It did not disappoint. Euan was entertaining, informative, and knowledgeable. He clearly loves his job and his city.

The tour was great - got to see all the buildings, explore the ones we could go in, and learn about all the detailed history of the castle and its structures. We even learned about how the volcano and the ice age formed the rock foundation of the castle. Ben, our tour guide, was FANTASTIC! He knew so much history, and was a great storyteller - funny, engaging, and made the history come to life. He also made recommendations on what to spend time in once the tour was over, eg all the small museums in the individual buildings...and sticking around for the 1 PM firing of the cannon.

Tour is well organised. Angus was very knowledgeable and funny too . Hearing the stories about the castle was extremely interesting. There’s lots of steep cobbled areas so choose your footwear wisely

It was very interesting to visit the castle for the first time while listening to the guide. I think the experience is more valuable this way. Worth the money :)

Julie was great! So energetic and positive despite of the weather giving us a chill! She was so warm and welcoming and told great stories of the castle that we would never have known otherwise. Highly recommend!
