This tour was good if you are not expecting to visit more than one establishment. Frederick was very knowledgeable about the city and very pleasant. However, we were expecting to see a few different restaurants/eateries. The one he chose was excellent. We had two glasses of wine; one white and one red —truly awesome wines and delicious lasagna as well as yummy Italian meats. Personally, we thought the establishment was great, the food and wine were excellent, but were expecting different restaurants to get a better feel for the city, as advertised. Essentially, $140 per person was steep for visiting one place.

Frederick was a true historian of the city he grew up in and loves, and did an excellent job between history, a fantastic food tasting and showing us some great night life spots near the university. A lot of fun, thank you!

This was the best tour and guide we had in Bologna. Sarah was excellent and always made sure we were comfortable. The food and wine were fabulous. Highly recommend Sarah!

Gioia was a great guide and took care of us throughout the tour, showing us different places to go to and letting us experience Bologna's specialties with bites of food and drinks in each spot. We ended up at a wine bar at the end of our tour, enjoyed each other's company beyond the tour, and got to know Gioia personally. We wish the best of luck to her and her endeavors! Definitely do this tour in the late afternoon/evening or around dinner time. It was great to see the area come alive and be a part of the Bologna night scene.

It was so nice! Sarah showed us places we never would have found before, and the walk through Bologna was so fun and interesting. Sarah knows a lot about Bologna so that was very nice! Also, she knows a lot about the wines and goods. She took us to the best cheese shop and bakery and we had some of Bologna’s best local foods together. We had such a great experience, I would definitely recommend this to everybody!!! She also gave a lot of tips for local restaurants and bars to eat, and even made the reservation for us, very helpful. Thankyou sarah!

Mauro is a very knowledgeable and very nice guide. He knows a lot about the city and has fantastic little stories - not only about the food but the city itself. We tasted amazing food and he even showed us some non-food places when he found out we haven't visited them yet. He is very easy to talk to and overall a very nice guy! We had a great experience with him and highly recommend to book the tour with him.

We had a great time on our private tour! Gioia walked with us around the city center and made us feel like locals. We had very nice food experiences, and learned some interesting and funny anecdotes about Bologna. Besides, Gioia is extremely friendly and she even sent us some of her recipes and personal recommendations after the tour.

Amazing experience with Withlocals in Bologna. My wife and I enjoyed the tour from start to finish. The efficient booking system through to meeting our guide went very smoothly. The process as well as the tour are extremely flexible along the way. Giola’s - our tour guide - ‘business’ level of English, detailed historical knowledge and local flavour was exactly what we were looking for. She also made everything fun and interesting, highlighting small details that without her we would have missed! Giola was incredibly flexible, adjusting elements of the tour to suit what we were looking for and interested in. Highly recommend ‘with locals’ and of course Giola herself.

Our Withlocals guide was super friendly and took us to some great little local spots! The tastings and wine were delicious, all of good quality. We ended up staying in the last place for dinner (as our guide suggested) and the food was amazing. Highly recommend!

We went on this wine tour with host Sarah, who showed us the best local bars you can imagine! We had great local food and wine, and learned about Bologna and it's people. What we loved most about our tour, is that it felt like a night out with a friend!

Dear Reader, As can be seen from the title of this review, we absolutely loved this expercience. Sarah (our guide/local) was from the start on fully comitted to provide my girlfriend with the perfect birthday present (the tour). She came with nice suggestions and questions in order to tailor it in such a way our tour through the wine world of bologna would be optimal. She showed us surprising locations and made us taste a variety of mouth watering wines. From drinking modern orange natural wine to finding ourselves sipping a classic red in One of the oldest wine bars of the city (unchanged since 1472 I believe), Sarah included it all in a great trip. Adding up her nice British sense of humor and a number of great stories about the city we would only be able to conclude that this is an absolute ‘must’ when visiting the culinary capital of Italy: Bologna!

We found and booked the walking wine tour by chance and what a delight it was. Sarah was very knowledgeable and down to earth. We learned a lot about Bologna and wine on our travels. Sarah never rushed us even though that meant going over time at the end. We really enjoyed playing the game at the first stop. All in all we had a wonderful evening and will certainly recommend the walk to our friends.

Highly recommended. I think I simply have no words to write a review as good as the time spent together with Gioia and her mother was. We had a private cooking class at Gioia’s place. We had a 10 month old daughter crawling around, but even this was not a problem - Gioia's mom was helping us to take care of the baby while we were making tortellini and tortelloni. Gioia herself is a person you think you have known for ages - easy-going, very smart (she is a scientist apart from her cooking passion), very sincere and very warm. The whole atmosphere was friendly, cozy and homely. The most authentic experience we could possibly get at Bologna. THANK YOU!

Sarah was superb. Knew everything about Bologna and delivered it perfectly. I was in a wheelchair and she created a route for me. A 6 star+ guide who was friendly, knowledgeable and above all caring. We had a fabulous tour.
