I’ve been on a food tour before in my home state of NC. My daughter and her boyfriend moved to Richmond recently. We came to visit and scheduled the food tour in Cary Town. It did not disappoint. Eclectic, fun, tasty, and interesting. The guides Brian and Sara were very attentive and kind. They ensured we got our money’s worth and left with something else to do afterwards. Our favorite: Can Can a French brassiere that felt like a French experience! This tour was well-organized, super fun, and introduced us to so many delicious foods! Lindsay was an awesome tour guide with knowledge about local history and present happenings. We'll definitely be back to check out another neighborhood!

The food was great, the company we were with was great, the weather was great, but the guide made the experience! We loved Rachel. This is what sets River City apart. I chose the term experience for a reason. That’s exactly what you get. You can go into these restaurants without River City, but it’s not an experience. The stories and tidbits you get make it special. I would recommend without a doubt. We thoroughly enjoyed the new “ Sip and Savor” tour! Good restaurant choices, great pairings and plenty for a great price. Staff are knowledgeable & have great information about the area. We’ve done other tours with them & it’s always a good time! Highly recommend.

Richmond has spoken to my heart for a few years now. My wife and I visit once a year or so. Last time we were here we did an excellent Sweets Tour with River City Food Tours, we were so happy with it, that this time around we wanted to circle back with them and do something a little different- The Sip & Savor Tour. As a whole, Brian & Erin were excellent guides; amiable, talkative, knowledgeable and professional. You can tell they have a passion for this work. The evening began at Wong Gonzalez, with delicious margaritas and crispy crab tacos. The food was amazing: The margaritas were well balanced, while the tacos were flavorful and satisfying. The place has a hip ambiance. We walked about five minutes, which was fine because it allowed us to let the food sink a little and allowed us to check out the sites of downtown. This was a welcome respite from the food and also allowed us to interact with the guides who talked about the area and some of the buildings. Secondly, we went Max’s. I have to say, the decor and architecture of this restaurant adds a layer of sophistication that can’t be overstated. The food was good, a pimento croquette accompanied by a light beer. This particular dish wasn’t super memorable. But while we were there, we took a look at the full menu, and were drooling over some of the choices. We made a note to come back! Thirdly we went to Bar Solita, a Mediterranean style restaurant with large floor to ceiling windows. We sat in a corner table, and it made me feel pretty hip and fashionable. The food though was bonkers good. Lamb sliders accompanied with a red wine. The slider had a robust flavor while the wine paired beautifully. The manager greeted us and gave us a little history of the restaurant. It was a cool spot. Lastly, we went to Charm School, where the co-owner came out and gave us some history of the establishment. Let me tell you something, this is some of the best ice cream I ever had. Even after we had our sample, we walked right in and got full portions. Go here! All in all, this was another successful tour with River City Food Tours. Next time we come back, we plan to do the Cary Town your. Honestly, do yourself a favor and do a tour with these guys. We are avid travelers, and these guys are world class.Had so much fun eating and drinking our way around the Richmond Arts District with River City Food Tours!
