Door County Wetlands Kayak Tour
Overview
The wetlands and lake provide habitat for the federally-endangered Hine's emerald dragonfly among many other wildlife and plant species. The open zone grades into second-growth wet-mesic forest of white cedar, white spruce, balsam fir and black ash. This is an example of boreal forest habitat which a rare community type to be found in Wisconsin.
In the Spring, wildflowers are outstanding on this location, with Hepaticas, Spring Beauties, Trilliums and Trout Lilies putting on a show from mid-April to the end of May.

This was an excellent thing to do while in Door County. You do not need to be experienced at kayaking either. The tour guides give brief simple directions before the group hits the water. It was fun paddling through the calm quiet water. I would highly recommend this tour.

We loved our tour guide Will, and the chance to get out into water for a couple of hours. It was an easy experience, low-risk and we had a great time.

I took the beginner marsh kayak trip with my wife. We are both seniors with no prvious experience and found the kayaking very arduos with all the turns that had to be navigated. Our guide a very kind and gracious young man with a wealth of knowledge about the fauna of the marsh offered to tow us from his kayak. We gladly took his offer. He turned what could have been a short and exhausting bad experience into a memorable event for us. A very pleasant relaxing place to experience nature. Very quiet and serene.
Ready to feel like you are in a painting or a nature show? This tour is worthwhile. Steadily but slowly paddling, you can quietly see the nature of the interior of Door County. A change of pace to the vibes along the coasts for sure! Anders, the tour guide, was helpful and nice!
