Private guided tour with a local living in Klukwan (population <100), who will share their Tlingit culture along with insight into the modern and historical exhibits at the Jilkaat Kwaan Heritage Center.

Stop At: Pleasant Camp Border Crossing, Stikine Region, BC V0W 1A0, Canada
After re-entry into the US, a short stop will be made at the more than 100 year-old Dalton Cache trading post. This historic post was built by Jack Dalton in the 1890s to trade goods and supplies to the gold seekers heading up to the Yukon. Today, the post rests just a matter of feet from US / Canada boarder line and you can actually stand with one foot in either country!

I went on this tour in July 2019. It was very well organized with a fun, engaging guide. Pick up and drop-off was timely and the van was roomy and comfortable. Really appreciated getting to do this tour with a small group, rather than a big busload of people. The cultural center was fascinat...
I went on this tour in July 2019. It was very well organized with a fun, engaging guide. Pick up and drop-off was timely and the van was roomy and comfortable. Really appreciated getting to do this tour with a small group, rather than a big busload of people. The cultural center was fascinating and I enjoyed learning more about the early history of the area. One couple was in their 80's and David was very helpful with their mobility issues. We saw eagles, a bear, swans, and magnificent mountain scenery on the drive to the Chilkat Pass. It was an opportunity to see how beautiful inland southeastern Alaska and Canada area is and to learn more about the route we were on of the Klondike gold rush. David's love for the area and his enthusiasm for sharing it with visitors really made the tour exceptional. Recommend it as one of the best things to do from Haines, Alaska.pegw740

This was a terrific introduction to the culture of native Americans in Alaska. The guides presented facts and insight into life in Haines Alaska, with stories, songs and authentic artifacts representing the history of their people. In particular, I was impressed with the review of weaving done ...
This was a terrific introduction to the culture of native Americans in Alaska. The guides presented facts and insight into life in Haines Alaska, with stories, songs and authentic artifacts representing the history of their people. In particular, I was impressed with the review of weaving done by the women of the tribe and learning of the structure of their matriarchal tribe fascinated me. I was happy to purchase souvenirs from their gift shop to support their native community instead of spending my money on the "made in China" manufactured items in the port gift shops.Similar tours
