What to expect
After your coffee, you will be provided with basic training of riding and after this you are taken to the horses and get ready for the horses and wagon ride to the mountains. After riding 1 hour and 20 minutes, you will arrive on the top of the Finikia mountains and stop there.
There you can have a soft drink, some raki, fruit, and you can take photos of the view, and the sleeping mountain of the Greek God Zeus (he was born in a cave on the Lassithi plateu but he is sleeping opposite the Finikia mountains, Archanes). After this pause, you will take the horses and wagon again, and go back to the stables, riding for another 1 hour and 15 minutes, and then, you will get a rich Cretan traditional lunch with home-made wine.
When you finish lunch, you can sit out in the garden of the stables and have some more wine, while the kids or you, can have a few more minutes of horse riding. At about two o'clock you will head back to the hotels or apartments.Maximum weight allowance per person is 110 kg.

Me and my husband had a fantastic time on our horse riding trip today. The horses are carefully picked out for you and you are taught how to ride them. The views from the hill was beautiful. We were kindly given some cold water/juice and watermelon to quench our thirst. We then returned down to the stables and had the yummiest homemade lunch. Booked a ride at the stable twice last week. Once a mountain trip with a BBQ. And after great success another beach ride at sunrise, which was a fantastic experience. My daughter and I, big horse fans, had a great time. Friendly horses and the horse-rider connection is carefully considered, but also the different wishes and experiences. The passion of the owners is evident. It is good to notice that they are very committed to the horses and the company. Irene and the horse family ask emphatically to treat the animals with respect. Good handling and taking into account the weather, muscles and condition. A good warm-up and cooling down for the muscles of the horses is essential. There is a lot of attention for this. This in addition to good care for the horse's skin for the sea and sun. The horses' hooves also looked well maintained and were fitted with horseshoes. If we go to Crete again, we would book another ride. Not to mention, the pleasant guide, who was able to provide a lot of additional information about the area. An unforgettable experience. I would recommend it to anyone. With or without driving experience. Viewing Crete from a horse's back, magnificent! Thank you Irene and horse family! It is a grat way to spent half a day! We were piked up from our hotel with a car. After a short instruction we were up on the horses riding on our own. We went trough olive plantations up to a hill with the most amaizing view, were we sat for a orange juice and some watermelon. After we went back for a nice home cooked meal with local vine. The food was plenty and really good. Total time spent on the horse is around 2 hours, which is more than enough for a biginner. Our hosts were more than delightfull and helpful. After the meal and a short relax we went back. I will repeat this experience anytime. The group was small, only 10 persons, which was the best. The pickup at our hotel was seamless and on time. Eddie, our guide for the day, was very fun and personable, fluent in English, and got to know everyone's name during the course of the activity. The other hosts and guides were great too, and provided a very memorable experience. By the end of the trip you felt like friends with the hosts and they provided a very comfortable atmosphere. The horseback riding was great and the views were phenomenal. For those who have not ridden horses before, I would suggest wearing jeans or longer pants to protect from trees and bushes along the way. While my wife and I were enjoying the activity on our honeymoon, the group did a great job of facilitating an enjoyable experience for children on the tour as well. When we returned from horseback riding, the hosts prepared a beautiful, traditional Greek lunch which had plenty of food and drink. I felt that the excursion was a very good value, especially considering the transportation and lunch, and would highly recommend for those staying in the areas near Heraklion.
