We were a group of 12 people determined to discover the Mayan world. Tourballoon agency was highly recommended to us by friends in the same hotel. And they were absolutely right, we received excellent attention, our tour guide Antonio and his host Jose gave us a very detailed explanation on aspects that I had not heard even in the best History Channel documentaries. Of course there are sales of many extra things, as in any attraction, park or activity. But they never forced us to buy anything. One can choose and take it on the positive side. The Mayan village is the first stop, upon arrival you are greeted by an authentic Mayan shaman and the whole group undergoes a purification ceremony. I know that the Mayans were very good healers and took their spiritual and sacred part seriously. Therefore, it is still something new and interesting to see. I was very struck by the fact that there are artisan artists there making figures and pendants with great skill. We went to the restaurant, the group was delighted with the food, especially the Mayan food, very exotic dishes I would say. We ate as much as we could because it was a buffet. Of course Chichen Itza is beautiful, impressive, unique! The guide took us through the most important constructions, our group was only for visitors who spoke English. The heat is a factor that could turn against you. We went with very light wear, hats and drank many bottles of water. Unfortunately, these tourist places have become too popular with tourists from all over the world, so if you go, keep in mind that you will have to be patient and also that you will have to sacrifice a bit of your time for the other travelers to enjoy. It's like taking a picture with a famous artist, the moment remains in your memory, but you have to say goodbye and let others take the picture too. Still, it's still worth it. Swimming in the waters of the cenote gives you a feeling that you are recharging your energy, these waters have many minerals and are very good for your health. Outside of time, the Cenote is a 10 out of 10. The last stop is in Valladolid, they gave us only 20 minutes, I asked why so little time? and they told me that it was a matter of permits from the local Town Hall. Finally this group of 12 adventurers had a more than excellent time! We totally recommend this tour!We loved seeing the Mayan village and the pyramid. What a great day trip. Some things were positive, others much less. Positive: Hector, our guide, was excellent. He gave us a lot of descriptions and advices. The visit to Chichen Itza was outstanding. We loved it. Same for Cenote Semaal. We were able to swim there and it was an extraordinary experience even if the water was quite cold (around 17 degrees). Nevertheless, we stayed only a short time there: it was quite frustrating to not have enjoyed a little bit more of this amazing spot. Negative: the first visit at the Maya village was not authentic at all: it was clearly made only for tourists in order just to spend money, the atmosphere seemed very fake. The food wasn't very tasty as well. The last visit to Valladollid was not necessary: everyboday was tired. We only visited an open market which was not that interesting. We could have save some time not visiting Valladollid and spend it for more time at Cenote Semaal. The tour company was very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and history. The tour company was very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and history. They were very friendly and accommodating. The only negative about the whole experience was the time it took to get to the first stop due to stopping to pick up other passengers at different locations along the way. That being said, we were one of the first on the bus and one of the last off of the bus. We would do it again!Chichen Itza is beautiful. Such a wonderful place to visit with an amazing history. Chichen Itza is beautiful. Such a wonderful place to visit with an amazing history. Unfortunately you learn none of that history on this tour. Instead you have to listen to someone rambling on about energies in stone, how water has memory, and how the Illuminati control Mexico. First it was a sales pitch in order to get you to buy stones and necklaces at the shop. But even after that stop we heard nothing about the Mayans, when chichen itza was build, what it was for etc. What little information we were given at the site was usually wrong (or at least contradicted by what I had read and was written on the plaques at the site) So if you take this tour make sure you brush up on your history and just see this as your transportation including lunch and drinks
