From the day we started our adventures by touring fabulous wine estates until the day we finished our Cape Town journeys with shopping in the Old Bisquit Mill, we felt like Dave from Born In Africa Tours was another part of our family. His expertise of the area is beyond reproach. When our whale watching tour was cancelled due to rough surf, Dave arranged a full day of sightseeing including a surprise birthday celebration in Fish Hoeck complete with a cake and staff singing "Happy Birthday". He is very engaging, funny, and a pleasure to have around. If you are looking for a tour company to take your family or friends on an excursion, I would look no further. We will use Born in Africa again in 2023 for our day trips! We had a perfect day in Stellenboch and Franchoek. Our guide (James) was amazing! Many thank to our tour guide Michael our family of four had a wonderful time in the Cape Winelands. I recommend this private tour to anyone who decide to visit Cape Town. It was a perfect day our tour guide was prompt, informative and attentive. The drive was picturesque along the way. Every winery he took us to was beautiful. Stunning view at lunch overlook the beautiful vineyard. This was the third of three day trips I booked with Born in Africa Tours, and all three of them were amazing! This was the third of three day trips I booked with Born in Africa Tours, and all three of them were amazing! (I also did the Cape Peninsula and Big 5 Game Drive, and have written separate reviews). Dave was my host again and was a perfect guide all day. He is very knowledgeable about the area and the wineries, and great company! I felt more like I was out for the day with a friend than a tour guide! He was also very flexible with our plan for the day. We set of very punctually and arrived in the wine region in good time. I wasn't quite ready to start wine-tasting so Dave had a few good suggestions for things we could do instead. I decided to go to the Alpaca farm and got a great talk/tour about how the weaving is done, and all about the animals. Also got to feed the Alpacas! After that we went to two wineries, Fairview and La Motte. These were very well chosen as they were quite different in style of winery and wine. Then we went to the fabulous Roca restaurant in Franschoek for lunch and ate on the terrace with the most amazing view of the mountains. We finished the day at the Vergenoed wine estate to watch the famous duck parade. Really good fun to watch! (Although the ducks do actually play a serious and important role in the management of the vineyards). Dave kindly offered to go to another winery if I would like to but unfortunately I needed to get back to Cape Town so we headed back - another amazing drive through beautiful countryside to finish a great day! I had three fantastic days out with Born in Africa - everything from the quick and efficient booking process, the quick answers to my many follow-up questions, and the amazing hospitality on the three days out was fantastic. Also a huge thank you to the wonderful Maria who makes everything happen behind the scenes. Totally recommend booking with them. The Cape Winelands tour was truly a highlight of our stay in Cape Town. The Cape Winelands tour was truly a highlight of our stay in Cape Town. Our tour guide, Dave, made it memorable and fun. Because it was a private tour, we were able to customize appropriately. We were able to fit a lot of activities into one day: two wineries, a chocolate tasting, tours of Franschoek and Stellenbosch towns and a wonderful lunch. Many tours like this will dump you at a tourist trap for lunch, but Dave chose ROCA restaurant for us where the food was delicious and the views were stunning. Dave filled the day with interesting anecdotes about the places we visited, and gave us wonderful insights into the wine country and South African life. I would be happy to recommend Dave to anyone visiting Cape Town. Really exceptional tour.We had an absolutely wonderful day visiting the Winelands with our guide Lynne, what a lovely lady, we felt like we’d spent the day with a good friend, Lynne made sure that we visited all the vineyards on our list & was our very patient driver listening to all our chat as the wine came into affec...
