The instructions for where to meet were not clear. I had never been to the Amsterdam train station before and it said in the IJ hall. Well apparently there was IJ passage that is not the same as the IJ hall. We were there waiting at 8:50am for a 9:30am trip. By 9:28, no one was standing up the leave and we were so confused. We ran out of there when we realized this clearly wasn’t the spot to meet and asked a worker. We arrived at the correct location at 9:31am and were told the tour has already left without us. I have neverrrrrr missed a tour and every tour I’ve been on, they have a couple minutes to make sure everyone who paid and signed up is on the list. So we ended up spending double to get trains to bruge which had multiple delays and didn’t get home til midnight with only 3 hours in bruge. So incredibly upset about how this was handled and will no longer recommend Viator after this when I’ve always told my friends how great they are.Beautiful old city, worth the trip. Skip the restaurant recommended by guide (food not worth it), but definitely try the waffles and fried somewhere else (lots of little great places around).
