We spent 4 days in the Bolgheri area, and definitely our favourite activity was the winery tour at Terre del Marchesato. Our host Serena was helpful, friendly and very informative. We learnt so much about Italian wines, and particularly Bolgheri wines in the 1 or 2 hours we spent with Serena, that now we feel like we can go out and understand and enjoy Italian wines so much more than we could before. The wine tasting was great and very generous- served in gorgeous surroundings with beautiful music playing in the background. We would highly recommend this to everyone!We didn't book as we hadn't planned to come to Bolgheri for the day. On the way there we say this wine tour was popular and thought we'd see for ourselves. We didn't book as we hadn't planned to come to Bolgheri for the day. On the way there we say this wine tour was popular and thought we'd see for ourselves. Luckily they had space, but often they don't so best to call ahead if you can. The host Serena was delightful, very knowledgeable and had great English. We saw the vines, the cellar with the barrels and were given an interesting talk. Then we moved inside to taste 5 wines. It was fantastic value for 10 euros and 1.5 hours of time. Arrivi e la prima cosa che incontri è il sorriso solare di Serena. Un approccio simpaticamente informale ci invoglia a seguire con attenzione e interesse la spiegazione riguardo alla storia e ai prodotti della tenuta. Dopo una visita in cantina e una breve esposizione dei metodi di affinamento in barriques, si passa al momento più gradito: la degustazione. Serena ci offre delle fettine di pane arricchite da un olio buonissimo e nel contempo ci presenta i tre vini da degustare (ma poi saranno, alla fine, 5....). Insomma, un bel momento conviviale dove le opinioni sui vini degustati e sul territorio di Bolgheri si sono sprecati. Serena è un caterpillar di efficienza, entusiasmo e simpatia. Chissà che ci si ritrovi anche nel Canton Ticino a degustar vini...... Di sicuro ricorderemo con estremo piacere la visita alle Terre del Marchesato. E ci torneremo. Il tutto si è concluso in meno di un'ora, nonostante il tempo previsto fosse di un'ora e mezza, si poteva fare meglio.

Una cantina ottima e vini di qualità. Ci siamo trovati molto bene, esperienza consigliata!
