Berlin’s town centre houses some of its most well-known attractions including the Tränenpalast (Palace of tears), the Reichstag, the Chancellor’s office, the Brandenburg Gate, Pariser Platz, the Hotel Adlon, the American embassy, the Holocaust Memorial, the site of Hitler’s Bunker and Reich Chancellery, the Topography of Terror and Checkpoint Charlie.
This tour introduces its participants to the many layers of Berlin’s rich and interesting history, demonstrating the changes undergone in the momentous history of the German capital.
If you are interested, I can show you the building which housed the American embassy during the Cold War – I can tell you the story of how, as a child in the GDR, I went to the American embassy and how this act led to an invitation to a Stasi interrogation.
If you bring a little more time, I can also organize a visit to the dome of the Reichstag and we can see the city from the roof of the German Bundestag.
has talked a lot about the time of the Wall and the upheaval.
A very interesting, detailed tour with a lot of insider knowledge!
Very friendly and competent telephone clarification of a small booking problem.
We were a group of 5 adults and 5 teenagers. Mr. Cliewe led us 2.5 hours through Berlin. It was great for everybody. Thank you very much, sir.
Very authentic and well suited for our group of students, as there were many realistic and everyday illustrations of life in Berlin, especially during the GDR period
Well, the wall was not always a monument as it is today and the tour proved this emphatically.
We were nine participants, the tour should last 2.5 hours and go from Friedrichstraße station to Checkpoint Charlie. Mr. Juritza showed us so many details that we (all Berliners) didn't know yet and told us many (even personal) incidents that made the tour exciting and entertaining. So after 2.5 hours we were first at the Mohrenstraße, but then we asked for an end (he would have continued), because we were exhausted after so much walking around. We are happy to recommend this tour to others.
A super interesting tour from a real eyewitness! Highly recommended!
Very impressive and personal guidance!
Highly recommended. Unfortunately, our schools were a bit tough, which hopefully did not disturb Mr Juritza too much. If he did, he taped it over professionally.
Very interesting, good and pleasant guide.
A very commited and competent tour! Due to his personal experiences, Cliewe Juritza can tell some interesting stories. A tour off the standard tours!!
The tour with Mr.Juritza was just awesome. He´s a very fiendy, competent and open person, who conveys his personal impressions and experiences in an ostensive way. Even the original Berlin people among the group learned new and interesting things and were exalted. Any time again!
The tour suited my expectations entirely: Interesting information from a contemporary witness, who knows what he is talking about - instead of just repeating book knowledge he has learned by heart.
We were fetched directly at the hotel, which was perfect for us as Berlin Newbies. The tour was very informative, price and organsation were satisfying
Very informative, also suitable for pupils with little previous knowledge.
The tour wasn't very sutiable for a class of 15-16-year-old pupils. We expected a more personal and deeper insight into the life in Eastern Berlin and the problems of the political persecution, especially since this tour was guided by a contemporary witness. Price, organisation and the duration were good, though.
There was a lack of enthuisiasm and surgency.
A very kind, competent guide who involved our child perfectly. Highly recommendable.
Competent, entertaining, creative, down-to-earth - GREAT!
A very interesting and especially personal tour!
